On the subject of Coffee - Cococeps :)

Options

I received an order from Iherb, a company I often order natural sweetener, soaps, etc., from and yesterday they sent me a free sample of something called Cococeps.

I was immediately interested because along with organic cocoa, a prime ingredient is Reishi mushroom  (Ganoderma).  If you look at the research and treatment being done with Ganoderma, the evidence is pretty powerful.  Here is one extensive article from the  National Institute of Health:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16865287

I preface this by saying that I have no idea of the dosage of Ganoderma in Cococeps, or how they process it, but it looks like it's all pretty carefully done and it's all organic.

Had a cup this morning and it tastes just like VERY dark hot chocolate.  YUM!  I added whole milk and vanilla stevia.  It's a good coffee substitute - 14mg of caffeine per serving.

My nutritionist was out of the Ganoderma blend he has me on for supplements, so I was happy to get this in the mail and give it a try.

Like I said, I don't know much more about it other than the packet I got, that it's organically processed and it tastes real good, but if you're looking for a good hot chocolate alternative without all the sugar and chemicals, it's real good!

sorry - I posted the wrong link.

The article I had read was an Adobe download from the International Journal of Oncology about Ganoderma, from 2006.  If you Google it, it should come up but you have to open it with Adobe.

Wow, I had never heard of this - thank you for posting about it! Which website did you order it from? I'm about to go check Vitacost since I need to place another order with them...
