Hair Loss...mostly?

Options

I was diagnosed with IDC back in Feb/10 and started my chemo (ACT) on 4/22. I started losing my hair a few weeks after my second infusion. To deal with this, I worked in steps: I cut my hair short, then shaved with with an electric razor, and then buzzed it. Talk about emotional...

Right now, I have little hairs everywhere on my head...like little prickles. Are these ever going to fall off? I only have 2 more infusions left (YES!!!) but I was wondering if these little hairs are just going to stay put. If so, what do you all suggest? Has this happened to anyone else, or does/did everyone else have "smooth as a baby's bottom" bald heads?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I can't wait for it to be over with...

Wouldn't it be nice to have a crystal ball for our chemo side effects.

I'm also on AC and did much the same as you - a short cut then down to about 1/4 inch bristles but, unlike you my little bristles, or at least 80% of them did fall out between about day 19 - 25 after starting chemo.  I found the time when they were shedding quite irritating so followed the advice of a poster on here who suggested using a lint roller on them.  One of those rollers with a sticky surface (that you can pull off to expose a fresh layer) you use on clothing.  I think the bristles were just ready to fall because a few sweeps with the roller and most of last patches of hair came out ;- P

Then I was left with just a few hanging in there and attacked those with my husband's razor. So I'm now hair and stubble free and (yippee) itch free too!

I think everyone's hairloss history is different even on the same regime but my oncologist did forewarn me that on AC hairloss was " inevitable and usually complete"

    good luck !

I did AC then T and during AC most but not all of my hair fell out. I had just a smattering of fuzz on my head. Not enough to really notice but it was there the whole time. And my leg hair never stopped growing! But on the upside, my hair started coming back on taxol, so maybe yours will too.

May you go mostly comfortably through the rest of chemo.

Thank you so much! I will try the lint roller, but I think those buggers are going to stay put.

Did you just use a razor with a blade to shave it off, or did you use an electric?

I appreciate the responses :) Laughing

    Hi MelBell

I used an electric shaver - first I tried my lady shave (battery operated designed for legs and under arms) but that was a bit weak so I moved onto hubby's men's electric shaver and that was perfect.  I am not sure I'd be brave enough to use a blade razor!!

You'll see from my profile picture I've lost the lot - my lovely 17 + 19 yr sons both say I "look like a model' .. haha Vogue Magazine .. are you out there !

Good luck and don't forget to let us know how you get on Wink
