Tracy,
Thanks for letting me know I didn't realize she was a flight attendant.. Hmmm guess she would be the best one to organize this kind of convention since she's a flight attendant.. I will be patient. Thanks again, Jennifer

Hello ladies, I hope you are having a wonderful week As we (Annie and I have been talking) are planning the entertainment spots for the trip we have an option for Friday. There is a dancing bar in the Venetian hotel called La Scena, they play many genres of music from Motown to rock (you can go to their website and get more detailed information and a virtual tour of the bar). They do not have a cover charge and it is almost across the street from Cesar's where we are planning (as of right now) to have dinner. We have a couple of options we can reserve tables for $50.00 consumable a table (that is a bargain since the tables seat 6 so it would be $8.50 per person, just enough for a soft drink....) or we can take our chances and just go and dance and have fun.
So our options are Coyote Ugly (we cannot reserve a table there) at NY-NY or La Scena at the Venetian, reserving a table or without reserving one (if we reserve a table I would need help from somebody to be in charge of collecting the cash). Please go to the websites and let me know your opinion.
Hope you have a great rest of the week
Hugs
Gisella

Gisella -- Without having looked at the sites (i.e. based only on the info you posted here) here's my opinion, for what it's worth:
1) it's better to have tables reserved and that is a decent price
2) since Piano Bar (Sat night's event) is also at NY NY we might as well go to the Venetian and spread the joy as it were
Also: let me know if there is any way that I can help you ladies in the planning group!
-
I like the Venetian idea because it's less walking to dinner, and I like the Venetian better than NY NY, plus we'll be going to NY NY for the piano bar. NY NY is a decent walk from Ceasars and I'm sure we'll be getting plenty of walking in without "having" to add more.
Reservations also seem worthwhile to me. I'd be happy to collect the money if you'd like.
Julie
-
I like the Venetian too, but it is not less walking. It is past Caesar's. But it is better food than Caesar's. And a fun place for those who have not been to Vegas!! JUDY
-
Here is a map of the strip.
JUDY
-
Judy, you beat me to it! Venetian is even a far walk from the Mirage! Even though it looks close...haha everything looks close...but man...nothing is. haha. Is there anything fun at our hotel?
-
Hi Jazzy & Judy - what Giselle was saying is that we are already supposed to be at Caesers for dinner that evening (on Friday) so the walk to the Venetian would actually be closer (from there) than it would be to go from Caesers down to NYNY.
-
Or anything fun at Caesar's if we are having dinner there?
Great map Judy!
Annie -- that is true but it would still be a hike... I'd do it (or we could take cabs I guess though that might take all night
-
Taking cabs is so easy in Vegas--they line up at every hotel door. And sharing a few would be fine- and cheap. We should not limit ourselves to where we can walk..Some of us may not be able to walk far. JUDY

OK I am incredibly sad....been crying all night. As I was finishing up my chemo last year a friend of mine told me of her friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer, Rose. I met Rose just after she had her mastectomy.....She then did chemo.... they recently discovered that the breast cancer had spread to her liver....she just lost her battle this morning. :-( It sure hits close to home! Please say a prayer for her family and friends. I believe she was my age, maybe a bit younger.
:-(
CANCER SUCKS
-
Looking forward to whatever we do - just along for the ride. (Or walk I guess!)
-
Judy...true about the cabs!! I believe the dinner is planned for Sat though and not Friday.
-
I'm with Journey! Anything we decide will be GREAT!
-
Aw Damn. Cancer does SUCK. So sorry Jazzy. All the more reason to live life to the fullest while we are here.
-
Oh Jazzy, that SUCKS! I'm so sorry. News like that just really smacks you right in the face, even if you didn't really know the person well. It's scary how easily it can all be brought right back for us.
HUGS,
Mona
-
Jazzy -- so sorry to hear this -- cancer does indeed SUCK!
As for dinner - I am pretty sure we have a dinner planned on both Friday AND Saturday night... and Gisella was talking about the Friday night dinner (at Caesar's tentatively atm) and the question of where to go after.
I still say let's go to the Venetian on Friday night!
-
DUH! Yes Serendipity's...it is right on the strip....sorry chemo brain fart.
-
To put the map into scale - from Flamingo to Tropicana is one mile, from Desert Inn to Flamingo is one mile, etc. (Looks close, looks can be deceiving.)
Jazzy - so very sorry to hear this - hugs headed your way!
-
Jazzy, so sorry! The first time I heard something like that I thought I'd think "oh thank god it's not me" but that's not at all what happens. There's this knowledge of the pain her family is feeling and the knowledge that at anytime it could be me. I've lost all invincibility and have such a tender love for anyone I meet going through this. We're all on a different journey but it is such a powerful sisterhood!
Hugs! Julie
-
I would think bus tickets are the better way to go (rather than cab)? Does anyone know if there are multiple day passes that we can get?
Julie
-
You can purchase a 24 hour pass for $7; and a 3 day pass for $15.
Be sure to get the one for the "gold line" and the "Deuce" if you want strip transport.
-
Do the buses run as frequenty as the cabs? We all would be able to fit in a bus which would be good. I am still searching airline tickets. Looking for the best deal I can find. My husband is going the following week and got a round trip ticket for 213.00! Good thing he booked it far in advance.
-
Eh I am still watching the prices and they have been steady at around $436 (maybe dropped about $15 this week for some reason) for a non stop. I'm playing a game of chicken atm with travelocity.com lol.
Personally I'd rather take a cab... it's a short stay and there won't be that many cabs to take. The former New Yorker in me gets impatient!
