Chemo before surgey failed

I opted for chemo before surgery in an effort to shrink tumor and stop cancer in its tracks.  I have had 4 treatments of AC followed by 4 treatments of Taxol.  The tumor shrunk with the AC, but after my 2nd taxol I noticed a lump in the same area that wa thought to be scar tissue.  I finished chemo 2 wks ago and had an MRI this week that confirmed tumor is still there and has grown.  My docs all say this is very rare and I am having urgent mastectomy in 4 days.  Not sure  about treatment after that.  Has anyone been through this? Very frightening!

    DMF51 - I am sorry I can't offer any technical advice on your situation but I did want to post and welcome you to the forum as I see this is your first post.  I am very sorry that you have to join us but you will soon find the information and support you receive is invaluable.  We are all here to help and offer as much support and guidance as we can so please know that you are not alone in this battle. 

    I am sure someone in a similiar situation will be along soon to offer some helpful technical/medical information but in the meantime I am sending you positive vibes and prayers that they get this figured out for you quickly.

    After my first consult-doctor suggested I may need chemo prior to surgery also. She stated 4 months of chemo to shrink it since it is close to my chest wall. After what you had said ,not to sure on it either. Will see what my second consult says.Hope you are well on your way to recovery after surgery.
