Breast red and swollen after 3 yrs out
Does anyone have this happening to them. I'm 3 years out of surgery. I'm TN, Is this suppose to happen. Is something wrong. I am on a trip right now and need advice. I am in the U.S. for 2 days I had bone pain, but now just slightly. Breast which I had a lumpectomy is red, swollen and in pain. Also 2 months ago had a nipple core biopsy cuz of bleeding fr the nipple. Every thing came out clean now this again. Need advice.

Not happening to me,but best to go get it checked out.Is the trip you're on out of the country,or here in the states?? Could possibly have an infection,if your surgery was recently,or it could be nothing but a heat rash.Better to be safe and get checked.
Good luck, prayers going up for you.

I had last Dec an infection in the good breast. I had it checked out, cut my trip short and it was an infection. I got bite by a mosqito probably. I was glad I checked it out right way and did not have to worry anymore. After that I decided to have prophilactic mastectomy and reconstruction as I don't want to worry about them anymore. I am glad I did that too as the girls look good.

I would go have it checked out for sure. Call your dr, get an appointment, and he should get you in for a check up right away. It could be nothing but since TN is so aggressive, it's best to make sure it isn't anything. Let us know how you do.

I have lymphedema in my affected breast occasionally, and it is warm and full feeling. Also, had mastitis with the lymphedema once, and needed an antibiotic. I would definitely see a breast doctor about this.

There seems to be a sudden rash of this. Three of us are discussing it on a thread in Not Diagnosed but Worried titled The PANIC Returns. I was also on a trip (business about 500 miles from home). Mine started with a really high fever - it peaked a bit under 104 even though I was taking Tylenol to try to lower it. The next morning, my breast was bright red, painful and swollen. I made a local doctor's appointment and they diagnosed mastits and prescribed antibiotic.
I haven't had any sign of lymphedema in the breast. I'm home now and going for a follow up appointment tomorrow. After a week on antibiotics, it isn't swollen or red anymore. It is still distinctly pink compared to my other breast and still tender in spots. It isn't swollen - it seems to have shrunk to smaller than it was before this and there is a dent on one side (not where the lumpectomy was). I think there may have been a cyst that broke or an abscess. I don't think it is a return of cancer, but I am concerned about what it is and what caused it. I think it might be related to having disrupted blood and lymph circulation in the breast.
I'm not ready to lop it off yet, but it is the first time I've questioned the decision to have a lumpectomy instead of mastectomy.
And I am a teeny bit worried about cancer just because my original lump was combination of a benign cyst, DCIS and IDC.So if I had another cyst that burst, is there also another tumor next to it? Probably not but I'd like to know for sure. My regular mammogram would be next month.

Well I have a new Dr. My other one left the Hospital and went some where else. She is a woman which my other one was a man. Anyway she came in and was very nice and Ihnformative. She said since I was TN that maybe and I am almost 4 years in March. She said my Breasts are Large and hard to detect lumps with hands and Mammograms are just seeing all kinds of things..tissue other biopsies I've had. Well she said instead of having these problems of redness, pain wondering if its come back, she said also cancer could come back in other breast also, but to prolong my life since I am young 51 Well she said I should think of getting a bilateral Mastectomy. My questions is has anyone been told this, and has anyone done this? Now searching for answers in a Mastectomy. Scared to do this bu,t wondering how much safer is this, and what kind to have. Going in for an Appointment next week with Plastic Surgeon.
