Odds Of Developing Metastatic Disease

You're right Barbe1958. I too am a happy person but certainly am aware that there is a "possibility" that I may get a recurrance and I too need to talk about it sometimes and I guess like a squirrel hiding nuts for the winter, prepare myself just in case. I live in Florida which has a 6 month hurricane season. We make sure each year that we have our emergency supplies updated and we are ready, just in case. Do we hope we never get hit (again), sure. Do we think about it every day.................nope, infact really not at all. But then when we hear there is something developing out in the Atlantic do we pay attention, you bet. Most of the time it doesn't get here and we go about our lives again until something makes us think about it again. I feel that way about being aware of my body. I am learning to distinguish now between things to worry about and not. But if something really catches my attention, or just doesn't seem right I certainly ask one of my docs. I wouldn't be doing the right thing ( for me) if I wasn't "prepared" like girl scouts taught me

I want you all to know how much I appreciate the conversation on this thread. I've been particularly anxious these days since an arm xray showed "something" and just had a PET scan today. Your conversations on this thread is helping me through the anxiety of this week. My emotions have overruled my logic this week and while I like to think positively most of the time, it's impossible for me with this disease to be positive all of the time.
Thanks for everyone's input and thanks to gbesq for starting this thread.

goodfight...a big congratulations on the 30 years! That is such a wonderful thing to hear. If you guys can do that, you can do anything! I'm glad I was able to put it into words for you; even the chattiest of us sometimes need someone else to gather our thoughts, especially if chemo brain is involved!!
Sunflowers, I don't know who Molly is but I laughed like hell when I read that quote...she was probably one heck of a conversationalist! Please, feel free to quote other things she said...we all need humor in our armor when traveling this road.
Suz...I can only imagine the anxiety. A few days before I had my ankle replacement surgery, I pulled out my MRI report (which I had never really read), and saw reference to a mass in my bone marrow that "was not of undetermined cause". It turned out to be a cyst from the arthritis but it had me almost (almost) in a panic thinking "what if they go in there and can't do this surgery". At that point, I was more worried about not getting relief from my pain more than I was a recurrence. I hope, and pray for your sake that you get the same good fortune that I did, and it's something other than this dang BC making another appearance.
Barbe...I love your sense of humor and ability to see through the clouds and help us make sense of it all! I still remember a post you wrote about ....damn, CHEMO BRAIN...I can picture you with a glass of wine and a laptop...saying something to your husband about feeling sorry for someone ....and his solution was to get up and unplug your laptop - and dump out your glass of wine, or something like that! (don't you just hate it when the words escape you at the last minute...or in this case, the story!!). Your sense of humor just gets me going some days
I think most days I do ok, but I just had my 3 month check up - and I find I get especially hyper sensitive in the days preceeding that. Especially since I think I should be moving to the 6 month check ups at this point (I'm 2 years out from diagnosis), but apparently my doc is hesitant to go 6 months because of all the issues I've had. I'm on femara now, and appear to be doing well, so maybe in October she'll go to 6 month intervals???

Navy, it was a cartoon I quoted:
A woman is sitting on her laptop drinking a glass of wine and she comments to her husband that if she ever becomes dependant on a machine and fluids to keep her alive then he had the right to unplug her...the rest as follows above...heheeheh

LMAO all over again Barbe...THAT'S WHAT IT WAS!!! Isn't it funny that in my memory, it was YOU and not a cartoon?? Ahhh...gotta love what's left of me
