Songs That Irritate Me

That song "Live Like You Were Dying", for instance. Yes, it is a very nice song, but totally not realistic. Most of the time, if you're dying, you feel like crap, there's pain, and you're tired and sleep all the time, so I'm just not a fan of it. A better song would be "Live to Love" and would really accomplish what the author is really wanting to say.
And then there's that song "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. I totally love the song; it's so awesome. BUT really, that guy is singing about a girl and he's pining away for her. But really, all he knows is that she is beautiful and he'll never have her. What if he spends his life pining after her, and she was really a B____??? That would really be a waste of time and love, wouldn't it???
Do you have any love/hate relationships with songs, or any that just particularly bother you???
-
Yeah, but my memory is so bad that I can't remember what they are.
Who loves ya, bobbie? -
I can't fight that feeling any loooonger....by REO Speedwagon!! The lyrics don't bother me as much as the whiney voice singing it and the fact that once you hear it, it's in your head the rest of the day!!! Like a hangover that just doesn't go away.
-
That stupid song called the "Christmas Shoes" Its about some little boy buying shoes for his mother because she is dying. God I hate that song!
-
Feelings! Because once it starts you know you are in for 3 minutes of crap!
One of my favorite memories was driving home from brunch at The House of Blues in Los Angeles with good friends and we were singing all of the worst songs we could remember. The House of Blues brunch was actually GREAT with GREAT gospel singing, but for some reason we felt like singing BAD songs.......Take a Letter, Maria.......Knock Threee Times........It helped that we had been drinking champagne (not the driver, of course)!
-
Two out of Three Aint Bad by Meatloaf has always pissed me off. I've hated that song for the last 20 years. OOOOOOOH had to edit my post. Ditto for Having my baby.
Diagnosis: 5/9/2006, DCIS, 5cm, Stage IIIb, Grade 3, 17/5 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- -
Oh, yes, "Take a Letter Maria" is up there all right, as is "Please Release Me". Of great barfitude is also "Seasons in the Sun". And "Killing Me Softly" kills me softly.
BUT - put on Simon and Garfunkle, any of their songs, and I'm one happy woman.

any of that 80s baby makin music by Def Lepperd
-
Oh, my gosh! I came back to read this tonight and almost peed my pants.....give me more! You girls are sooooooo funny!!!!!!!!!!!BUGS!!!!!!!!!!
-
OK, I'm really dating myself but hate the song (You're) "Having My Baby" by Paul Anka. Basically, he tells her he knows she could have had an abortion but because she didn't he knows she really loves him. GAG ME WITH A BIG FAT SPOON!
-
How about You Light Up My Life by Debby Boone, remember that one? It played every 5 seconds. And just about anything by Barry Manilow makes me want to puke, although I didn't think they were half bad at the time, now they are all soooo stupid.
-
Regina- Especially when they made those poor kids sing them on American Idol!!!
-
"You Can Ring My Bell"!!! I HATE, HATE, HATE that song. It's so unbelievably dumb!!! Even now when I hear it I have to turn it off. Also the song "I don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith. God, I hate that song. The lyrics are stupid!!!
-
How about Three Times A Lady? What are you the rest of the time? So stupid. But the WORST is Never Ending Love For You. Just thinking about it the tune is going around in my head.
-
Oh, no, Neverending Love for You and Ring My Bell-stuck in my head ALL DAY today!!!!!!!!!!
-
SpunkyGirl you made me laugh! I used to love that Tim McGraw song. And of course it hasn't hurt watching him perform it live about 8 times. That being said....the song did take on a whole new meaning after I was diagnoised. It was real hard to listen to at first. You are totally right though. Being sick odds are that you won't be on a 2.7 second bull ride, skydiving, rocky mountain climbing, or much of the other stuff he sings about. As far as Your Beautiful, I've always loved that song. Never thought about the women in question being a b_ _ _ _ ! LOL!!!!
-
Reunited and it feels so good..........reunited cuz we understood..........
I kissed a boy for the first time to this song, never liked it but never forgot it because of that damn kiss.
-
lol. I love reading through this thread. The two songs that I've always hated are 'Tainted Love' by Soft Cell, and America's 'Horse with no name'. I love some of America's other songs, but have always hated that one. The melody and the percussion of the song make me think of two camels clopping along. No, not real camels, the camels from the old camel cigarette ads. . Don't know why, but it does.
-
Hate to poop on this pary, but the 2 songs that get me are
Wild Horses, and We are the Champions!!! The last cause we are!!!!!
B
-
How about "Achy Breaky Heart" by Mile Cyrus's Dad, what's his name, and "Every Breath You take". They both send me screaming from a room!
Jennifer -
How bout Muscrat Love by the so talented (NOT) Captain and Tenille---Oh God that is one of the most grating song ever---and I agree about the Christmas Shoes---GAGGGG..........
-
I know everybody loves this song, but I hate it, it is sooo corny... The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
and the other one I hate is... Michael Buble - Haven't Met You Yet
That one sounds like a theme song to an old 70's sit com!!!
-
I have to say that anything by the Cocteau Twins, Nine Inch Nails or the Smashing Pumpkins does absolutely nothing for me. If they had to rely on people like me buying their music, they'd be really poor.
BTW, I did not know Tim McGraw sang "Live Like You Were Dying"! Now I have to like it because he is so HOT!
-
Agree with you on that one SpunkyGirl! I had the honor of being picked out of a sea of women and being sung to by him on his knees while holding my hand. My husband will never let me forget that I turned to him and said, 'I think I'm going to be sick' right afterwards.
-
Sheryl Crow's "I wanna soak up the sun." That girl has got so many good songs and severe talent on the guitar. I went to a concert in a small venue once and I was jammin' and totally getting into the concert and the people behind me where telling me to sit down cuz they coudln't see. And then, the one song she does that I hate, everybody in the freaking place was on their feet. ugh.
-
Hi Ladies, I agree that "Having My Baby" is extremely cheesy and tasteless, but what about Paul Anka's other top hit: "I Don't Like to Sleep Alone".....who writes lyrics like that??? Another 'classic' song is Alice Cooper's 1974/75 hit "Only Women Bleed"....have you ever listened to the lyrics??? As a teenager, I used to cringe and get all embarrased when I'd hear that song on the radio if my Dad or brother were in the room....yuck!
-
This is fun... I cannot remember the name of the song...maybe someone can help me... it's a male singer who sings a song about his lover and his wife is "in the other room"... it has a great beat but I don't like listerning to it cuz then I'd be supporting his cheating heart...
-
I second (or is that "third"?) Paul Anka's "Having my Baby" and add "Honey" which I think was performed by Bobby Goldsboro. I am showing my age, but can remember a slumber party where Honey was played over and over again and everyone sang along and cried, except me. Always hated that song and now I cannot get it out of my head again!
-
Carcharm, I can't think of the song you're talking about, but I agree with you that even if I like the song I won't listen to it if it is too morally reprehensible-okay, most of the time. I love Superfreak!
How about Mm Bop by Hansen-totally irritating and has to be in the top 5! Maybe we should start a top 20 Most Irritating Songs list....
-
Thong Song, Tie Your Mother Down by Queen and an horribly catchy song that my children enjoy torturing me with - Gummy Bear.
Muskrat Love - wow, I hadn't thought about that in years. It was my sister's favorite song one summer. That was also the year she discovered Barry Manilow.
