Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that other people will be interested in this as well, I spoke with Hester Hill today, she is a very well respected social worker oncologist and highly acclaimed author, not to mention two time breast cancer survivor. I've heard so much about her and would love to get this support group of the ground, but she tells me she needs a couple more women for it to move forward. This group would be free to anyone who wants to be a part of it and I think it would be essential and valuable for many women.

I will keep plugging a way because I think this is really needed, especially in the Boston area but the word isn't getting out and I have my own theories on why, politics, politics. Women that need the support are going without. I was diagnosed in October of 2009. Since then I have had  a lot of trouble just finding other women that are going through this as well, only true support is Breastcancer.org and it's ben amazing) but that support is limited.

I have included a link where Hester Hill is speaking. Feel free to watch, it's about 5 minutes long and I think what she has to say is pretty profound, insightful and powerful, especially knowing that she has been through it and still going through it. Hope to hear from anyone who needs a little more support in New England. Hester Hill is located at the Beth Isreal hospital on the green line. again, this support group is free. Thank you for listening and for your time.  Please send me a private message so we can get this group started. :)

I so much appreciated getting to see and hear Hester.  Her book helped me more than words can say when I was first diagnosed.  Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I wish you were closer. She is hoping to start a breast cancer support group in Boston and only needs 2 or 3 more women who are interested. I thought I would at least try to see if anyone else was interested. I think she's inspirational, we'll see what happens, I'm hopeful.

If Hester were near me, I'd be in that group in a minute.  She is a professional I would trust to lead a group with all the expertise and compassion a group leader needs.  I hope you get your group together.  All the best.

Thanks Gitane, I'm still trying but it's discouraging to say the least. I don't think enough people know her and of her books? I thought she was pretty popular. She just seems like such an amazing, caring, intelligent person, comforting, genuine person and she's been through it. I will keep trying and keep looking. Chasinghope
