What do you think my treatment will consist of?

edited June 2014 in IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma)

I am HER2 Pos., ER + 30% & PR Pos 20%, Grade 2, Tumor was 4.5 cm. Im am 38.

I am waiting on the cancer treatment center to call to set up my initial appt. but the waiting is so stressfull. I would at least like to know what treatment I will possibly be looking at.

    I'm not a doctor but sometimes I think I am so I will try to help (please remember that only your doctor can tell you what is recommeded). You will have surgery - I'm sure they told you this?  Since you are HER2 pos you will have herceptin treatments along with chemo.  Your tumor size most likely warrants chemo although the grade is not as aggressive as it could be (good news!).  Also, I believe that you are negative on the hormone receptors so I think that also warrants chemo (I'm not sure about this).  I hope this doesn't scare you or make you feel worse.  It is only what I think they may say.  Remember, lots of woman have chemo and surgery for cancer and get through it. You will too!  :)

    Yup, already had a lumpectomy and then a second re-excision because they did not get clean margins the first time. Margins all came back clear after the second surgery on June 25th and I've already had my follow up with my surgeon. He said I'm healing well and they've sent all my info. to the Cancer Center so off to Oncology I go. The only thing that really scares me is the unknown which is why I came here. I'm greatful for any opinions at all. At least I feel like I am learning more instead of just sitting and waiting which is the worst.

    My guess is that you will have chemo w/Herceptin and radiation.  I have had both of these and they are very doable.  Good luck.  You will have great support here.  Let us know how it goes with your oncologist.
