Red Lump Under Arm

Options

I was diagnosed with IDC in March 2009 - had surgery to remove small cancer - no nodes involved and everything seems fine now.  Last night I noticed a small (size of a dime?) red, hard spot near the area where dr. removed nodes.  It doesn't itch or hurt.  Just wondering if I should  call my breast surgeon or wait a while to see if it goes away???  I'm not scheduled to see him until September.

Hi maggie5 a good thing to use in all things new that appear is the two week rule. If it's not gone in two weeks, get it checked out. wish you luck and hope it disappears.  Love n hugs. chrissyb

If it grows I wouldn't wait two weeks.

I have read of gals with lumps at surgery sites that turned out to be more cancer, but they usually aren't red.

What is more common is seromas, which are kind of like cysts or fluid and can appear and get big, red, and ugly pretty quickly. I would not wait to go in and get that drained.

Thank you both for your replies.  I can't wait - I just worry too much.  It has gotten a little bigger since last night when I first noticed it.  Appt. is at 12:15 with breast surgeon who understands me (and my worries) I think a little better than my onc.

Well, I feel a little silly now.  My dr. says it's a mosquito bite!  BUT, he says he's seen two patients this week with staph infections so he wants me to take an antibiotic just in case.
