    Thanks everyone - I had a great day.  Crabs were seasoned just right, not to spicy, just enough to catch the flavor. 

    Gill - glad to hear all is well and from my experience and everyone else I've talked to gas is a good thing after a colonoscopy - it means you're doing great!!!

    I went over to stage III and looked at what Jenn wrote. Some of the ladies said don't go to the site because of a virus risk. Let the moderators take care of it?

    Hope everyone had a happy 4th. 

    The day before was really busy so we didn't do too much - BBQ and had my Mom and sister over for a little while.

    We had a quietish day too. I went and helped older son weed his garden plot that he rents and plants with 2 friends. We harvested some salad greens and radishes then home for a welcome gin and tonic then dinner with DH and 2 sons. BBQ steak, baked spuds, asparagus with proper hollandaise sauce, a wonderful salad followed by strawberry/rhubarb crumble and custard. Older son responsible for homemade salad dressing, hollandaise sauce and crumble. I like it when he comes to visit!!!

    I am not getting on the scale today! This morning  did a 2.68 mile walk with DH after three days off. My aim is to walk 5 days a week and have the weekends off. I had Friday off because of the colonoscopy which is a reasonable excuse. So I've got three weeks of walking under my belt and while I can't say I am enjoying walking, I feel good about the benefits.

    I am also making a loaf of almost no-knead bread for just the second time. The first was good, but it needed a few more minutes in the oven so will fix that this time. Phew - time to stop patting myself on the back.

    Gill - you day sounds wonderful and I think I may pop in next year for some of that asparagus.  You're doing great with the walking.  Am I right in guessing that your foot/ankle is much better now?

    Foot is great, thanks, Jenn. No after effects. Just got back from walking (almost 8am here) and did 3 miles. It has taken me three weeks to get up to that.

    Hi ladies,

    Glad you are all doing well.  Happy belated B'day Jenn!

    All good here.  Hair is coming along and skin is recovering from the burn.  The itch stopped a couple of days ago and that helps a lot.  I need to get moving more too.  While I did not gain weight per se, I did go up and down during chemo.  This joint pain does not make me terribly enthused to exercise though, butI know I just will need to fight through it.

    Yo -- I think moving around will help with the joint pain (for what it's worth) -- so working through it at first will pay off!

    YoYo - Good news on the skin improvement.   I read a doctor's explanation of why the skin goes so bad after radiation...it has to do with simply running out of skin cells.   The radiation kills them off faster than you can make them and eventually...poof...not enough left for the skin to repair itself.  So time is the answer.  I agree that excercise helps with the achiness and also that the achiness makes one not want to exercise.  A conundrum!

    I hadn't checked in for a few days - we've been really busy at work and getting stuff done at home.  I also had my facet joint blocks done on my back earlier this week, can't wait for it to start working, which is usually about a week or two.  I'm hoping that I'll be more motivated to exercise if I have less back pain. 

    Yo - glad to hear you're doing well, sorry you're dealing with stiff joints.  Does Aleve or Advil help?

    Facet joint blocks - sounds like a carpenter has been working on you!!! (Hope it doesn't feel like that).

    Actually, they give me the good twighlight stuff so I'm not knocked out, but could careless what they're doing.  The facet joints are in the spin - it's in the same family as an epidural.  I have some bulging disks, some that are losing their fluid/compressing, arthritis and cyst on the spine - these blocks seem to really help reduce the pain from the nerves not being happy.  It's been going on for 7 years or so.  I just couldn't do anything during chemo.

    Thanks Lilah - they usually work pretty good.  It's just one of those bumps in the road of life.

    Ok, as previously suggested, if nobody objects; I am going to start my weigh-ins today. This is the day my 3 months of hell start. I figure that I have 3 months till my cruise and thats about how long it takes me to develop a habit, such as working out. I have probly gained 5 lbs. this weekend in preparation for the diet, haha! It sucks to be such a foody, we had to cover all bases, seafood, mexican (favorite), Italian, the all you can eat breakfast buffet and fast food! Anyway, if nobody objects, and I do find it relevant to the prevention of reoccurance, I will begin my hell today with a Amazon board weigh in and weigh in each week after. I am currently (according to charts) obese and in need of loosing about 75 lbs, even though the charts say 90 lbs, I will be completly satisfied with getting under 200 lbs, a size 12 for me. So I will weigh in later today! {{{HUGS}}} Donna

    Ok ladies here it is...OMG I can't believe I'm saying this 254.6 lbs., which means I need to loose 80lbs at least...ouch. Befor cancer I needed to loose 50 lbs. and that seemed like alot then. Oh well it is what it is and here I go! {{{HUGS}}} Donna

    Okay Donna, this means you have to talk to us daily with your good and bad reports.  Remember, when you're tempted to reach for that delicious looking taco - stop - pull back and think cruise, cruise, cruise.  When that piece of cake reaches out and touches you, say no, no, no - cruise, cruise, cruise. About 15 years ago I was in need of weight loss, started small with walking, then Jazzercise and running and soon became obsessed. I worked out 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day.  Craziness, but I loved it and in all honesty miss the way I felt.  Anyway........back to the point.  I always allowed myself one day a week to eat whatever I wanted in any amount.  I picked Friday because it was the end of the week, my children were much younger, I was a single Mom at the time and we would rent movies, buy candy and junk food for dinner and veg out.  And....as time went on we still ate junk on Fridays, but I found that I craved the junk food less and less.  

    I am in need of some weight loss too - maybe we can work together.  I walked tonight for about 45 minutes - not exactly sure how far - guessing it's in the 2 1/2 mi range.  I vow to walk at least 5 days a week.

    Donna -- Go Go Go!  Eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies ... they will fill you up.

    Ok, yesterday I snacked on watermelon, did not each breakfast or lunch (bad), I just had not gone to the store yet. Dinner was chicken breast on top of a green salad, dessert fat free yogurt, and I was still hungry so I went to bed. Bought 1/2 caff coffee to try and ween myself off, but I am addicted to diet green tea, problem it's full of Splenda (bad), but the non diet is full of calories?? I hate water, there I said it...I have tried to embrace it for years but it's not going to happen. No excersize yesterday, my Dr. told me to go for strolls not speed walks just to ease back into it so hopefully tonight. I weighed today and probly will every day this week, but then only on Fridays, todays weight 252.2 so down 2.4 lbs most likely water I know! {{{HUGS}}} Donna

    Donna - good for you for getting started. We will be your coaches and cheerleaders.

    Some of you know I have had a boob problem over the weekend (I actually started a thread!!). Anyway, it hurt and was pink and warm. I spent 6 hours yesterday seeing doctors, then a mammo and ultrsound and then fluid drawn from my boob! And of course lots of waiting (I read 100 pages of my book). So everyone is confident it is an infection - mastitis - but fluid has been sent to the lab for confirmation. I got an antibiotic shot in my butt and go again today to decide if we need to continue shots or can move to pills. My boob is already feeling better - not great, but better. So after being really good for 4 weeks (M-F) I did not walk yesterday or today. I am hoping tomorrow movement will be less painful and can get started again.

    It was a quiet weekend on the boards. Hope everyone is doing well.

    Glad you got to the doctor fast Gilly!  Best to nip those infections in the bud :)  It's a good sign that it's already feeling better, too.  Not sure how/why you would get an infection in a non-implanted breast though... did doctor say why?  Is it related to rads or to the lumpectomy?

    Anyway you'll get back to your walking.

    Donna -- you rock!  Why is splenda bad?  I love diet green tea.  I agree water is not as fun... have you tried water with some lemon squeezed into it?  It's not only tasty, it's good for you to have the lemon juice.  You need to eat breakfast and lunch!  Make yourself an omelette with spinach and mushrooms (and maybe a little sprinkle of cheese as a treat) for breakfast.  They say eating eggs for breakfast is really helpful when dieting.  Lunch could be a salad or that watermelon :)  Hope you went shopping!

    Gill - so glad you went to the doctor and that it's feeling a little better.  And....I'm crossing my fingers and toes that you can move to antibiotic pills so you don't have to go in for a shot again.

    Donna - Watermelon is yummy........and refreshing during the summer.  Dieting is hard, but the cravings will pass.  Remember it's okay to have something sweet if you crave it - try the weight watchers frozen deserts or the skinny cow deserts.    Lilah had a good breakfast suggestion.  I also like to make a quick scrambled egg, a small amount of cheese, mushrooms and spinach and put it into a tortilla.  Or...in a pinch, just the egg and cheese.  Yogurt with granola is a quick breakfast too.  Whoo Hoooooo for day one.  Now you're one day closer to your cruise.

    Lilah - that piece of cake does sound good doesn't it.......we'll resist for Donna's sake.

    Hi ladies, I think I'm the last of us to reach the year mark--I found the lump on 4th of july weekend last year and had diagnosis on july 17th.  I went for my yearly mammo today. Now I wait to get the results. . .

    Gilly, hope your boob is feeling better and better and everything is just some freak infection.  I'm dealing with a urinary tract infection right now.  No fun.

    Jenn,hope the procedure on your back kicks in soon so you'll be out and moving about like normal soon.

    Donna, good luck on your weight loss countdown!
