Warning - Gross question - Did anyone have a heavy menstrual cycles after BMX???
-
mslrg....could your itching be from meds? Percoset makes me itch.

Hello Everyone,
I went to see my PS today to discuss my exchange surgery scheduled for 7/12. He told me he thinks the best implant to use is the Naturelle/Allergan high profile cohesive implants. He told me he ordered 3 sizes and would use the one he thought fit best. He is ordering 600, 650 & 700. Right now I have 720 cc's in my expanders. Does anyone else have these type of implants? Good, Bad??? Any comments. I asked him about the gummies and he said he asks the reps when they will be available but to date he has not been able to get them. I guess in NJ they aren't available yet? Anyway, I am nervous about the surgery and would appreciate any feedback. I havent worn a bra since my mastectomy and am loving. For right now I only have camis.. Will I need to wear a tight bra after surgery? Is a sports bra the best way to go since I am unsure of what size to buy? Any feedback is appreciated.

Kate, I am very sorry to hear what you have been through. You are in my prayers.

Hope - I did. I didnt' have my period for three months and got it the day after my surgery and it was pretty heavy. The nurse told me that happens a lot. I think she said it might have something to do with the anesthesia.

Many hospitals now give you heparin post surgically. If you are pre-menopausal this will impact your cycles.
It should be disclosed along with the risks, but it is not always disclosed.

Happy Birthday Deborah

Lilah- I've never been one to sue but I am still ticked off. More so because no one ever came and talked to me while I was there to explain what happened. You were right about the fever, too. My PS said the same thing when I called her. My fever spiked to 103.5 but now is 101.
whitedove- My PS doesn't do drains after exchange except when she uses Alloderm which she used for me. With Alloderm there is a slightly higher risk for infection.
Deborah- Happy Birthday!!! You definitely do not look like someone is 60. Maybe 45?
I loved your post when you said we are connected heart and soul. It was very moving.
MBJ- I am so sorry to hear about your friend. That is just so wrong. No one should ever die from incompetence. I can't imagine losing someone because some idiot made a mistake. I would have to have their head on a plate. I think the only reason I would pursue something is so it never happened again like you said.
-
Awe... it is so nice to see what you received! They are lovely!
I hope your birthday weekend... is WONDERFUL!
Kate, in real life... she does NOT look 59 or 60...:) If I had not known.. I would have said she was 48-50.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING PICTURES for us Deborah! I look forward to seeing all the girls posting tomorrow..:)..

Happy birthday, Deborah! Thanks so much for all you do here. Your knowledge and wisdom are much appreciated!
-
Deborah- May you have a very special birthday! I have tears just thinking about how special you are to all of us and laughing about the whole numb mouth after the dentist--you have such a great sense of humor. Our appreciation for you is beyond anything you could ever imagine. You have helped so many of us. Your an amazing and beautiful woman inside and out! Just look at you in those pictures! Thanks for posting those for us.

beautiful flowers and globe!! Congratulations!
Luna--the meds could be causing the itching I'm just about to take Lilah's advice and take some Benadryl

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEBORAH!!

Your present is gorgeous! Thanks for posting so all us newbies can see. Since you have a Scripture in your signature I'll quote you another. Don't forget the promise in Proverbs, "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter til the fullness of day." It only gets better! Don't be afraid of 60! I'm so glad you didn't put yourself in a coma today! Bless you!! And may you have many more birthdays!
Much Love,
dh

Hi Ladies,
My exchange is a week from today, and I'm feeling pretty anxious. I have the radiated side, and will possibly need pocket work. Fat grafting for sure. Reading Kate33's account of her recovery room nightmare is not helping.
So many things beyond my control...
We are going smaller, which makes so much more sense because I am a small/short person. My PS said he will have 550, 600 and 650cc's available during surgery. I'm worried that my flat scars will wrinkle, and that I will lose my projection. And yes, I've talked to my PS about my worries and fears. He has been very calming, but the moment we hang up the phone, I start thinking of other scenarios.
I just now developed a rash on the inside of my upper arms. There are pink spots, and the skin is not itchy, but very dry. I have never had anything like this before. The only things that are different in my routine (for the past 2 days) are the vitamin C and the antibacterial soap, both required by my PS. Have you had anything like this happen to you? Has anyone reacted badly to vitamin C or antibacterial soap?
Thanks for allowing me to share.
Brenda

Brenda -- I love that picture! Very cool (the happy birthday one). As for your fears -- I had them too. It's natural to be afraid... it's scary. But most of us do not have the experience Kate had (which is why we think she should sue
You have to trust in that... as for the rash, it's probably the soap. Call your PS and ask if there is another kind you can try. I had to shower the night before and the morning of my surgery with Hibaclens which was horribly drying to my skin... I don't know what I would have done if I had had to use it for a week!Deborah -- oh thanks so much for sharing the photos of our gift... it is all as Laura described (who, I think, now has a special place in heaven for doing all that it took to plan and execute this wonderful gift). I get teary looking at the photos and your happy, smiling face.
-
Mslrg - ask your doctor if it's okay before you take it! (I am not a doctor!) I can't imagine why you shouldn't take it (they gave me benadryl when I was on chemo) but I always feel more comfortable if you check with your PS first. (And I hope it gives you relief

Hi Lilah--oops, too late! Took the Benadryl without asking my doc anyway, and the only side effect was 7 1/2 glorious hours of uninterrupted sleep! I didn't even need to get up to use the bathroom in the night. What a gift! I won't hold you accountable for any negative outcomes--I doubt there'll be any. But thanks for the idea. Wish I'd thought of it myself sooner!!!
