A few weeks ago, I was aware that it had been 3 years since my cancer diagnosis.  I wanted to share with you ladies the good news because the TN diagnosis can seem so disheartening.  I am thankful for my excellent medical oncologist who seemed like she tried to kill me back then, but truly helped to keep cancer cells in check.  When I had a PBM a year and a half ago, the pathology was clear in both breasts.  I am thankful for my breast surgeon, who did an excellent lumpectomy as my initial cancer treatment, and then did a very thorough double mastectomy as a preventive measure due to my gene mutation. I have had some trying sequelae following treatment, like open abdominal wound after reconstruction, occupational therapy for months due to damaged median nerve, continued treatment for diabetes and fatty liver following chemo...BUT I am alive!  Enough said :)

Congratulations Alex, and thanks for coming back and posting - it really was a lift for me on a day when I read stories in 2 different newspapers of 2 women dying of triple negative cancer.  But of course, those cases make the news... and so many others like you get well and go on with their lives.  We have to remember that.

    Congrates.

Did you also have ovaries removed due to the mutation?
