So tired these last weeks

Options

Hi everyone.

I have been feeling so tired, more than usual these last weeks. My husband thinks it is because I have just finished up my school year and then jumped in to help his mom do a yard sale.  But it is a tired feeling that is different. It makes me feel really yucky like when I was on chemo or when I had mono as a teenager.

I'm really scared. I have to see the oncologist tomorrow.

It can take a long time to recover from the chemo -- it took me the whole year on Herceptin to just start to feel normal again after the heavy duty chemo.  And look at everything you've been doing -- no wonder you're tired!  I do hope you get an all clear from your onc tomorrow, that everything's just fine.

    ugadawg,

I am so sorry for you having to face fears one would think could be past us.  You will be in my thoughts tomorrow, and I will hope this will be a passing thing, like a virus.  I know that mono/chemo feeling,  it is very familiar.  I would see when others weigh in regarding how far away from chemo this can occur.  I believe some say up to and over a year from chemo, and especially when under extra stress or physical challenges.

be good to yourself and rest today/tonight. Keep yourself well hydrated, as well as keeping your electrolytes balanced.

    please keep us posted...

I have been done with chemo and radiation since Jan. and I have been so tired on a consistent basis. My pcp recommended a sleep study but I think its going to be a waste of time. I am like ugadawg. in that I always feel tired. I have been thinking like her that the cancer is somewhere else. I really wish there was a way doctors could let you know what is really going on. I just think that the science of all these medicines has taken off so fast they don't really know how the side effects affect everyone. Now I'm on Arimidex and the joint pain just adds to everything. I know I'm rambling but thats because I tired of it all.

It sounds like you and I are on a similar path. My joints are killing me as well, but it the tiredness I just can't handle. I will post after I talk to my oncologist tomorrow. I keep telling my husband I want to feel normal again.

Ugadawg, I can't beleive I came on the forum tonight because of the tiredness and then ran across your post. Sometimes you realize there is a higher being guiding us to find the comfort we need in knowing someone knows our fears and feelings. Please do post after seeing the onc. I would also like to feel normal again. I see the doctor for the sleep study on Tues but I'm not holding out much hope that is what this is. I know my husband does not understand so it nice to know someone else in this world does. Thanks

UGAdawg, I didn't have chemo and I'm tired alot too. My liver enzymes have been messed up for a few months and I had myself convinced that the cancer had progressed. A good friend of mine reminded me that given what our bodies have been through in such a short period of time that it's not a wonder we're tired, and you had chemo too. I know that had to be even harder. We've had surgeries, hormone treatments that are not without their side effects, not to mention the cancer itself in a matter of months. My last liver enzyme report came back good, and emotionally I feel much better. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you the same good report. Susie

Hi guys. I just got in from oncologist. Blood work shows everything is normal...yea!!!! I'm still tired, no solution for that. Hopefully, it will get better. I'm not going to do much around the house for the next few days to give my body time to rest before reconstruction surgery next Thursday.

Ugadawg, don't you just hate when they say "everything is normal. Well then tell me why I'm so tired all the time. It's odd because your glad nothing is wrong but you still don't feel like doing anything.

You are certainly right about that. I have been sitting at this computer, telling myself, go start supper, but I'm still sitting here....too exhausted to move.

Isn't there a huge difference between being tired from doing things and being EXHAUSTED from doing nothing? I spent weeks being exhausted after my first surgery. Now I have times of extreme tiredness in excess of my activity but it comes and goes.

I say we need to listen to our body and rest when needed - easier said then done, for me!
