Abnormal pap test. Mets or another Big C?
I had an abnormal pap test (ASCUS) and am being sent for colposcopy on July 14th.
So looking on the Internet and thinking could this be mets from BC or am I so lucky to have another BIG C!!!!
Has anyone had this problem? If its mets what treatment do they do if any?
Hope someone will come along with some advice or information.

I had an OB appt on Friday, and I also have a history of abnormal paps. I had a colposcopy back in August and my OB could not see anything that warranted a biopsy at that time. Last Friday, I had another pap and I told my OB my concern with having cervical cancer now since I had a hx of abnormal paps, on top of breast cancer. She reassured me that if I do in fact have cervical cancer it will be caught early and dealt with. She said breast cancer is a bigger worry. Don't know if that was good or bad. The colposcopy itself is not bad - just like a pap smear but longer.
Sorry I don't have any info if breast ca causes mets to the cervix, but I think it is rare that it does.

I have a history of abnormal paps as well. Had several colposcopies. The most that it ever ended up being was mild dysplasia (abnormal cells) and at one point I had them frozen off and I never had an abnormal pap after that. The vast majority of abnormal paps are caused by one of the very many strains of HPV. If you haven't heard about that as anything other than the virus that causes genital warts you can relax, there are many, many strains of it and my gyno told me that if you are not a virgin then you have most likely been exposed to one of them. Also I was told that cervical cells are the slowest growing in the body and most of these abnormal cells clear up on their own and never, ever lead to cancer. I don't know any one of my girlfriends that has not had an abnormal pap at least once. I believe that cervical cancer is fairly rare and mets to the cervix even more so. I know that if I had an abnormal pap after a BC diagnosis then I would be freaking out as well because, well once you have been told that you have cancer it takes away your innocence that you won't be the one that gets that diagnosis. I did have several abnormal paps before my BC diagnosis though so I hope that the info I gave you above will help you relax about this particular abnormal result. I am not a doctor and I had a hysterectomy after finding out that I had to have my ovaries removed because I was a poor Tamoxifen metabolizer (I opted to have everything taken out) so I have no personal history of BC mets to the cervix but I have every faith that this will be good news and easy to correct for you. Best wishes for a B9 result...I know we can use as many as we can get after the Big C diagnosis.
