Yo -- metastatic only: what's your current chemo
The metastatic forum is huge, and 90% of them seem to be poz for something; I thought it might be more useful to talk amoung our triple-neg selves.
I'm just starting on four-week sets of Taxol/Avastin - Taxol - Taxol/Avastin - week off. The first week was horrible after...but now I'm beginning to wonder if it wasn't particially because I was still miserable from hi-dose radiation on my lower intestine (actually lower lumbar spine -- but there's no way to get the bone and miss the intestines).
I'd love to hear from people who've been on this, or similar regimes, and what your side effects have been.

I just crossed over to the Mets World. I am now at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I am on Avastin,Taxotere, and Carboplatin. I am doing this regimen every three weeks. Hopefully someone will come along and give you some information. Know that I am here if you need to talk.

Sherrold:
There is another wonderful website that I found and joined, prior to knowing it was only for those with metastatic cancer. There are many triple negs on there and they have a wealth of info. If my day comes and I too progress (am triple neg as well) - I will be there in a heartbeat. Please check it out.
It is Aspire.com.
Wishing you nothing but the best.

JollyMom,
Did you have any regular body scans afters the first dx? How big was your tumor in 06?
-
Hi,
I am on Avastin/Gemzar 3 on 1 off, was on Avastin/abraxane from Oct '08,
til April '10. same schedule. At Cancer Institute of Fla.

Starting Abraxane July 6. Got an e-mail from the Minister for Health saying they got my e-mail and will be responding later to why we don't get Abraxane and Avastin in Manitoba. Retired so I have the time to annoy the politicians. This is my second round of chemo as I had a recurrence. First time was Adriamycin (also called Doxorubicin) and Taxotere. Severely allergic to suspension used to administer Taxotere. Port in on July 2nd. Couldn't do without it.

Currently finishing up 6 cycles of Gemzar/Carboplatin (mets dx March 15)
My SE's have been min..some hair thinning, tiredness the week after chemo but nothing to keep me down. I have a platlets issuses w/ them dropping and have recieved blood and platelet infusions.
After I finish I will be put on a maintance program w/ Gemzar alone..while I wait for a PARP to be released for compassinate use.

Jollymom,
So happy to hear you are doing well, keep up the good work. I am trying to recall if you were going to MD Anderson for a transplant. If not where did you complete your treatment. I am also triple neg, and always waiting for the shoe to drop.
Many Blessing to you and to all,
