Tamoxifen can cause chronic coughing...I think it is a dry cough ...I have a cough from Arimidex...I thought just like you at first too till I called the onc.....You may want to call your onc just to put your mind at ease.......(((((((KDHOLT))))))..........

Thanks Hollyann, I have been on tamoxifen for a year and just developed this cough recently, but I also quit paxil at the same time so am not sure if that is causing tamox. to effect me differently. I know I am more paranoid now too!!!! Is it possible to develop a se to a medication after being on it a year?

I also have a dry, tickle in my throat from the Arimidex. I'm also on BP meds, and one of them has listed coughing as a side effect. I would mention the cough to your onc and see what he says. Mine always listens to my chest. Since mine seems to be this tickle in my throat and not deep from the lungs, I don't tend to worry about it. Nuisence though!

There is a virus going around this spring/summer that the cough lingers for 6-8 weeks and is exacerbated by allergies. Usually like Nelia wrote Lung mets would be a feeling in the lungs not in throat.

I came down with a cough while on Arimidex. I have now switched to Tamoxifen and it is much worse, my voice also gets raspey and somewhat of a sore throat. It sometimes is a deep cough but the majority of the time it is a throat tickle. Oncologist seemed to dismiss it.

Did you have chemo? Are you in chemoause? What I have found is that all you mucous membranes-vaginal-throat-eyes- become very dry with meno/chemopause. I too have a cough and things get stuck when they never used to.

I did not have chemo, but this cough drives me crazy, like you sometimes I have a hard time swallowing. I have read that Tamox can cause chronic coughing.
