What an interesting question!
At one point when I was in college, I did not have a dollar to do a load of laundry, or even 27 cents for a postage stamp! I was so bummed and wondering what on earth I would do....when I went to my PO Box and found a card from my aunt....and there was a $10 bill in there that may have saved my life! :-)
My first "real job" offer...they wanted to pay me $16000/yr (!!!) to be an accountant...can you imagine how excited I was?

my first teaching contract
this is not one letter but a body of letters; when we were cleaning out my grandmother's house I came across a box of letters; my gramma & my grandpa (who died before I was born) had dated 4 years before they married and lived in different towns, so it was a glimse into past times and to them as young people falling in love! (plus I got to 'meet' my grandfather for the first time)
very interesting, more letters!

I would have to say a letter from my grandma Bahr. She wrote in there how special I was and what I meant to her. I had not meet her or heard of her so it was a surprise all together. With that letter was a package. My grandma made me a beautiful quilt. I still have and use that guilt it is 25 years old. Next thing I knew grandma and I started writing each other from that point on. I finally did meet her and what a pleasure it was. Very inspiring woman.
The next letter was from my chemo angel. With cancer it was so nice to get a letter from someone I did not know that just cared. She sent cards to me on a regular basis. It always came at the right time. Now we email one another and keep in touch through facebook. It was the very begining of a wonderful friendship that developed.
2 pieces of mail you'll never forget.
-
A note from my anonymous guardian angel. I framed it and it has stayed near my bed ever since.
A heartfelt note in a birthday card from my otherwise unemotional son.
