Hello everyone,
I knew I would be happy when I was done but I wasen't prepared for the enormous smile that came across my face as the final treatment finished! Thanked everyone and then did a happy dance in the changing room. Just wait,,,honestly it feels great.
Leslie1962-my skin is also red itchy, but no open areas yet (can you hear the knocking). I was not prepared for the redness on my back, which is equally as itchy. Does everyone get that?
Cher- the last few days I have not gotten a good sleep, itchiness and heat combined with the area being sore now is not helping my beauty rest.
Dazdnfused- I don't know how long the soreness lasts but it increased in the last week for me. Mostly in the side of breast and armpit area. Tried Tylenol and that actually helped for me.
Luah- hopefully the cortisone cream will help. I have tried the .5% over the counter but I don't really think it is helping me that much. Someone recommended cornstarch to me but haven't tried it yet. Anyone else tried it? I know I'm not suppose to scratch but I find myself rubbing over whatever material that I'm wearing 'lightly'. It feels soothing.
Two hours wait is incredible! I have not had a similar experience the most I've waiting with the rad/onc was 40mins. I was also lucky with my treatments they were always impeccably on time. Some days if I got there early I finished ahead of time. Out of 25 treatments I only had to wait longer -about 15mins- twice. Very fortunate but certainly more 'assembly line' feeling to the treatment than chemo. Not sure there is any other way to do it.
Congrats to all those who finish this week, we will all be done soon!

Morning All,
Diane, I use Cornstarch all day long, my mini bottle goes everywhere with me. I leave 1 in my bathroom at work and every time I go I shake it on. It seems to help alot, I am pink and the only real red spots (after 21 shots) are the area going into my armpit (where my nodes were removed) and underneath my breast (where the air can't get to it).
My treatments usually run right on time except Mondays when everyone has to see the Dr, then they are behind anywhere between half hour to an hour and half.
Hugs to All - Stacey

Hello to Everyone !
I FINISHED yesterday ! What a feeling ! If my nine year old daughter had not been with me, I think tears of joy would have been rolling down my face all the way home. But, for her sake, I kept my emotions to myself. My skin is a bit pink and itchy, but that's about it. I am so thankful to be finished. It has been wonderful to have all of you to talk to . I've learned so much and truly felt like I had others to lean on.
I wish everyone the best of luck throughout the remainder of their treatments.
Stay strong !

Mary and Georgia,
Congratulations!! You did it.
I certainly can understand the tears of joy- you deserve them. One more for me and I'm done tomorrow!
Love to all of you..Nancy
-
Diane, Mary and Georgia: Congratulations on being done!! What a milestone.
I really can't wait to join you. Today I'm feeling down, didn't sleep well and my body feels really old and tired. Geez, this has been a long haul...
-
I FINALLY got a good night's sleep. Asked the pharmacist and he told me to take up to four teaspoons of Children's Benadryl (I have a problem swallowing pills). It worked like a charm with no morning medicine hangover. So many people are finishing up. I may be one of the last ones standing in this thread since I have ten more to go. I'll end up talking to myself! Don't worry. I'll turn out the lights before I leave!
-
CONGRATULATIONS to those over the finish line! Yeah, yeah, yeah! I am so happy for you.
Luah & Mchan--You are almost there. Don't quit writing. Good you're getting some sleep help, Mchan. It's hard enough without tossing and turning all night.
-
Hey Mchan - I have 11 more to go so I'm right there with you. I start getting my boost treatments on June 29th. I will have eight of those and then will be done on July 9th. My rad onc said that he thinks my skin may blister. It's pretty red and angry looking now. I've been using Udderly Smooth cream, and Lindi Soothing Balm. Has anyone found anything better? My rad onc recommended Aquaphor as I'm allergic to Silvadine cream, but Aquaphor has petrolatum as the main ingredient and I was nervous about using it as I heard about a Columbia University study that looked at a possible link between petrolatum and breast cancer. Has anyone else heard of this?
-
Diane, Mary and Georgia...YIPPPEE...aw, our rads group is graduating!
I had my first boost today, it was so much quicker than the regular ones...and I have 4 left!
Mchan we would never let you talk to yourself! We'll cheer you over the finish line...retrievermom is done, and look at her, cheering us on! Rocket, I think you are talking about parabens??? I have been using Sween-a lanolin based cream with pure aloe when I need it, and it worked very, very well for me. I'm certainly red now, and a bad burn under the breast, but the sween cream has been great for me. I think many people are allergic to lanolin however, but it was cooling at the same time it was healing. I bought a lot of it and I just plaster it on, it's messy. But at this pint I don't care.
Go girls go!

I switched from udderly smooth to Exclair as I went into boosts. I love udderly smooth, but the Exclair has something added to combat pain. I used hydrocortisone cream for itching. All the products were given to me by my rads office, so they were clear of agents that might be harmful. I got some aloe leaves from a friend and used them, but they were messy, and the other creams seemed to do as much good.
-
I don't have but a minute but just wanted to congratulate all those who are done. Next week is my last week. Almost there! more later.
-
I have two more this week and two boosts next week, then I am done. Gotta get in the car now and drive 35 minutes to get to my rad appointment.
-
Done, done, done. I'm cooked, the thermometer has popped. I do feel like Chernobyl -but it's over. I wish each and every one the best - you will reach the finish line. Hang in there. We'll wait for everyone to finish then we can move on to our next threads- I'm onto tamoxifen. Hope to see some of you there. Nancy
-
I don't know what other thread I fit into. I should go looking to see if there is a Herceptin group.
-
Hey Leslie1962,
There definitely is a Her+2 group with Herceptin issues, perhaps not as active as the chemo and rads groups are. There is also a Her2website which I have not gone on but that might be something you would be interested in. I have a feeling that we will be lurking here a little bit more before we move on to other threads...or at least we will be visiting. Not sure where I will fit in either.
Congrats Nancy!

Mchan, I have 7 more to go. July 6 is circled on my calendar. I'm holding your hand all the way through! You're not alone!
Diane and Leslie, I'm like you. I don't fit anywhere after this. Treatment is done for me. Had my 5 mo of chemo first and surgery in April. I tend to avoid the Stage IV board.
Dazd, thanks for the compliment. I'm definitely not boring. I find fun wherever I go. Life's too short to dance with ugly men!
-
Linda, we'll turn off the lights together if we're the last rads standing! I'm already stalking the Triple Neg boards. There's no after-treatment for us. Just good living!
-
I'm still here! I'm close though. Next week is it for me. Fatigue has hit and I'm glad my in-laws are here to help.
retrvmom - i've been using the xclair for a few weeks and it is good. I think it's really helped my incision.
there's an area under my breast that's a lot more red than any where else. Not sure why though. I did finally remember to ask about my rib pain and he did say it was probably getting iritated by the radiation. Hoping it clears up quickly once I'm done. Saw my ps and we are lookng at Nov for my final surgery!!!!!
-
Hello Ladies,
Linda - my last is the 6th also. mom3band1g - I also am very red under my breast they told me it's because no air circulation and that the skin there is tender to begin with.
My best to all - have a wonderful weekend and enjoy.
Stacey
-
I have 4 more and done!!!!!!!!! I am so excited and yet find myself a bit weepy! Thanks Staceyt for the under the boob info! I'm trying to sit up straighter to keep my skin from touching in that area! My TE has slipped so much that it's hard to keep her 'up'! This from the girl who had AA's at best. Looking at the one pic I took the am of surgery maybe AAA!
-
I am still here to. I have 5 more boost to go and I am done. I am fried and what skin isn't peeling away feels brittle and tight. The skin has peeled away all under the arm and to the middle of the chest but just the scar line there. I am miserable. It weeps fluid continuously and is just down right gross.
I start physical therapy Monday...that ought to be fun with the mess my skin is in. My shoulder is finally feeling better. Still hurts to put it behind the head but I can handle 5 more times.
Congratulations to those who have finished. I am not sure what my next step will be. I don't see my oncologist again till July 14. Keep the positive vibes up...we are going to make it!
-
Oh no - just started some major peeling under my bright red arm pit! Just finished my only two boosts and two more regular zaps on Monday and Tuesday, then I am done with rads. Hope my skin holds out. Hope all are doing well.
-
Well, it's been almost 11 days since I finished rads and I'm happy to report that things are almost normal. I have the lightest tan and some skin still peeling in one area, but otherwise pretty normal.
Since the last treatment I've been using vit e oil and emu oil to help heal.
I hope everyone is doing well..
-
My experience echoes Everett's. I'm ten days out and my skin has improved markedly. Energy level is going up, too.
Leslie and Mom3 : you're almost there!
KittyDog: I'm thinking of you, and sorry you're having to deal with the weeping skin on top of the p.t.
-
I am counting the days ... two left to go!
-
We're counting with you Leslie..woohoo !!!
-
kittydog- oh, that sounds so painful. Hoping the weekend helped a little. This is your last week!!! HOpe your skin holds out.
Leslie - Yea for 2! I've met 2 really nice ladies at my center and they finish on Tuesday too!
Everett and Retrvrmom - so good to hear how well you are both healing and getting your energy back.
4 left! so very happy!
-
Good Monday Morning to everyone !
It seems there are so many of you about to finish. Believe me, you will feel like a new person.
My last treatment was on 6/22. My skin looks more "normal" every day, the itchiness has eased up a lot and I have no noticeable problems other than one tan boob and one white as snow boob !My energy level has also improved. So, I just wanted to write in with encourgagement and best wishes to everyone that is about to finish.
Happy Trails and enjoy the rest of your summer.
