    YAY LINDA!!!!!

    I dodn't get a certificate or ring a bell or anything.  I brought THEM some cookies.One of them sorta grumbled because another graduating patient had brought cookies the day before....  oh well!!!!!!

    I was still so happy to be done!

    Hoo-ray Linda!  I, too, got a certificate of completion...it's hanging on my fridge:)  It's so wonderful to be done with radiation.  Well off to my Herceptin Infusion...can hardly wait till I'm done with that also.  Only 6 months more:(

    Finished 33 daily radiation treatments yesterday.  Wahoo!!!!  It feels so good to be finished.  Got up every morning & on road at 7 AM for my 140-mile round trip.  Only got slight redness the last week with burning & tingling around the scar area.  Now if I can just get used to taking the Femara for the next 5 years!!  I know I have to take it, so will try to manage the side effects.

    Last rads today!  True to form, I am having a rough time with the 5 boosts.  I threw up last nights.  I am taking them a cake that says, " Thanks for being so nice."  They have been nice through all my pain when all the last place would stammer is "Radiation does not cause pain!"

    Thank you so much Sweatyspice and CinCan!  So looking forward to my symptoms going away.  They started to when I had a break because of burns.  I suppose it will get worse for a few days and then better.  I am looking forward to wearing a bra.  Not sure when that will happen. My skin doesn't look too bad because of the break I had.  It is peeling under my arm.

    My worst reaction (wet peeling in the crease underneath) was about a week or so after I finished.  I'm almost healed now, finished May 18th - so about a month ago.  Nip/areola is still weirded out and slightly painful, but other than that I'm pretty much back to normal.

    At least you don't have to get Zapped anymore!  WOO HOO!!!!!

    Sorry to hear that happened to you.  I, too, am wondering what can happen since I just finished yesterday.  How long will I cook and when will I turn around?

    It's weird, some parts start turning around immediately and other parts keep cooking for a week or two before they turn around.  All in all, the cooking should be over w/in 2 weeks and then it's just healing for a while.  At the beginning of all this, my rad onc said it can take 2 years to heal completely.  It's been a month for me and I feel about 95% normal.  I hope the same for you.

    I saw my PS today and he was very pleased with the way it was all looking...

    3 AM and I had my last of 5 boosts 2 days ago.  Even thru the pain meds and silvadine, I'm going crazy with the pain.  Took 2 xanax.  Hope that will get me back to sleep.  The boosts have been the worst of this yet.  I was not expecting this.  I actually have a date to celebrate my ending.  Hope I can enjoy it.  We are going to a posh restaurant.  I believe it is his birthday, also.  I was going to call the place and see if they would do something special for desert.  I hope it isn't a big mistake to go.

    Pain is beginning to subside.  I have tried a frozen bean bag, an ice pack, a fan, and a cool bath with this last treatment besides the pain pills, xanax, and silvadine.  Hope I can get to sleep.

    I finished a week ago, and the skin is looking quite normal, just a little pink in places, outside the boost area.  I still have a lot of redness and a little bit of peeling in the boost area.  I have been using the greasy ointment - either ProShield or Aquaphor - applying some plastic wrap over it, and leaving it on overnight.  The plastic wrap keeps it from all soaking into my T-shirt, and keeps the skin very moist.  It's not very comfortable, though.

    1 AM and made it through the date.  Did everything I could to control the pain.  Almost cancelled this afternoon because of it.  I have had trouble with rads since treatment #1.  Being told that rads does not cause pain.  I have been treated very rudely bt the cancer certer because they could not accept the fact that in my case rads did cause severe pain. -

    Friday morning-Day 3 after the last boost.  One day closer to my turn around day!
    Diagnosis: 12/2/2009, IDC, <1cm, Stage I, Grade 1, 0/2 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2-

    Question - I finished May 18th.  Everything is healed, there's some residual soreness but it's going away...except that my nipple and areola, and the incisions around that area, are still pretty sore.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

    It might be different / worse for me because my whole nip/areola was removed, moved, and replaced in a different position... 

    I have my first follow up on Thurs.  Wondering if there's anything to tell the rad onc I haven't thought of yet....

    I have some pain in areas where I don't have a lot of nerve sensation, like under the arm where I had a drain and some blistering from the tegaderm patch.  I'm pretty numb there, but there's a sort of burning pain under the numbness.  I don't think it's really due to the radiation, though - my guess is that it's nerves trying to regenerate.  At this point, though, it's really hard to tell where a symptom is coming from.  It could be anything.

    Hello, sweatyspice.

    My skin healed super quick, but I also have some soreness.  I am not having any issues around my incision area (around the areola, that is).  Instead, mine feels like a muscle sprain around my ribs.  My rad onc had warned me that some side effects could stay around for awhile.

    Good luck on Thursday.  I hope you get some good news.

    Jarlwin - you must feel so good to be finished. I hope the pain subsides.

    I've still got some pain on the side of the boob near the arm if you squash it.

    We're back from our holiday and now I have to start thinking about going back to work. I'll talk to the onc today at my herceptin tx about it. July 1 sounds good to me.

    Looks like we are all finished - well done!!!
