Chest???
I am wondering how persistant I should be with 2 positive CT scans showing chest nodules. They are saying they look benign??? Should I push for a biopsie??? I am a smoker?? Sorry I have been trying too quit!!!!

Hi B,
I had a lumpectomy yesterday on the mx side for a lump attached to my chest wall (get the results July 6). Check with your doc for sure to see what they'd recommend but for your own piece of mind, if you want a biopsy then push for one. I'm a smoker too and it's a beast to quit especially when stressed! Best of luck.

How long between the scans, have the nodules changed??...My benign nodules always show up in scans but cause no concern to docs as long as they don't get bigger, mine have even gotten smaller or disappeared after follow-up scans..Hope this helps....

I have them too and they are nothing. I had 2 that they felt came up from a cold or maybe from when I smocked years ago. I asked if I needed follow up and she said no-I asked if I needed biopsy and she said too small to biopsy. I think they know what mets look like ( I hope) so I am going with the fact that they are good. She told me that they may not have showed up if my position on the ct scan was different. So I assuming I am ok there. But you always can insist on further testing . That piece of mind is certainly worth some peace of mind.

when is your next scan scheduled? they are probably monitoring them to see if they enlarge. it is good to be concerned but also good not to worry too much.

the same thing happened to me; and 6 months later the nodule either hadn't changed or wasn't seen. i can't remember. if it is cancer; they will grow...and change...and won't disappear. i think it is fairly common. also, i do think radiologists can often times tell by the characteristics of a nodule (s)...
it is pretty scarey to find out you have something BUT...once you are a cancer patient ..acording to my onc...they pretty much identify EVERYTHING that shows up. it can be nerve wracking.
be concerned but if you like your doctors...and so far they have taken good care of you...trust what they say. remember; this is all they do....day in and day out

I am a former smoker.. Quit about 2 years before BC but had smoked for 20 years.
My surgeon told me...basically; after your surgery, "we'll do scans".. "we'll find lung nodules"... "we always do"... I don't know where you live but I've lived in the south and deep south most of my life and nodules are often caused by the climate/allergies, etc...
I had several nodules. They watched them every 3 months for about 2 years. There was never any change, so they are no longer concerned.
So, nodules do NOT necessarily mean mets..
Good luck

Thanks everyone!
They have not I think changed in a year, but wil e seeing my PSP in July and will ask again, I just found out 2 months ago I had these. I am shocked CT Scan did not show them whenIi had full scans 2 yrs ago! That is my worry. I don't se Onc. till Dec. But if need be will see her sooner.
Shoud I ask for full scans every 2yrs being stage111a and being ER+/PR+/Her-2+++, what is the right thing to do??? I am trying to tay positiv but at times it is hard too do!
