So, what would a dcis recurrence/lump feel like?

At the risk of revealing how much I'm obsessing...So, if I'm supposed to be doing manual exams for four months until I see a doc again, what in the world am I trying to find?  I have lumps ALL OVER, having had bmx and now TE's. "Changes" doesn't work, since after a fill I have new lumps every day--some large, some the dreaded pea-size.  I've been using so much moisturizer I think it's making me break out in bumps that are sort of below the surface.  Would a dcis lump be hard, like a tumor, moveable, irregular, or regular, or...?

Hope everyone is well.  I just finished reading the book ANTICANCER, and recommend it for nutrition and general inspiration.  The doctor who wrote it has been living well for 15 years post brain tumor and recurrence!  I'm drinking a LOT of green tea now...

Beats the heck out of me---my DCIS was invisible, the lump that was palpable was in the OtherBreast and was completely nothing, a cyst.

when you find out, share!  : )

I read ANTI CANCER - a new way of life too and highly recommend it! We can't do anything about what happened to us but there are things in that book we can do to keep cancer at bay and for some women it can give them the reduced recurrence percentages they are seeking (from things like Tamoxifen) without drugs!

I ask myself the same question too...I did a unilateral mx so I am constantly feeling and looking at my real breast and the new lumps wondering what the heck they could be? I am going for a thermogram to try and help give one more answer to what is going on in there. Mammo and breast mri 6 months ago were fine but my periods started back up again in March so of course I worry. I will always worry. Can't help myself!

My question is probably going to betray my ignorance, but if you've had bmx, doesn't that mean that you wouldn't have a lump develop in a spot that you can feel through TE's? Where are the lumps you're feeling?

I think it's totally normal to obsess... not that that helps any!! My initial DCIS lump was very hard with irregular edges and not movable (and WAY larger than a pea). From what I understand, most lumps that are movable are likely nothing to worry about - but again, I don't know how that would apply after a bmx.

I'm glad you read Anti-cancer - DEFINITELY a great book!
