Testing After Stage I

Options

I'm looking for information about yearly tests after Stage I BC.  I'm six years out and see my Onc once a year and wonder if she should be testing me.  We only talk, verify that my last Mamo was clean but nothing else.  Should she be doing yearly tests other than a Mamo?

I was 2b but only get a mammo yearly too unless I have symptoms or pain.  I think this is usual:)

I'm glad you asked this as I am curious too.  I have spoken to 5 different women here in the Bay Area - and they were anywhere from stage 1-3.  All of them said that they were seen every 6 months for the first 3 years then yearly after that. I asked my BS how often I would be followed and he said yearly but I am assuming I will be alternating with the Oncologist between my visits with the BS.

I'm a stage I and what I found is that when they say that doctors "practice" medicine each one does it in his or her own style. My first oncologist said no follow up was necessary. No labs-nothing. This new onc will do blood work, palpation to check lymph nodes for lumps, ask if anything out of the ordinary is occuring-dizziness, pain, etc... and order tests accordingly. If you are not happy with what they are doing... find another cuz they all practice differently.
