Hi all,

Just wondering if there are any others who exercise to "The FIRM" series of workouts? I've been using them off and on for twenty years or so and am finding them a great way to get a great workout at home post surgery,chemo,rads,etc... Anyone else out there?

    Hey Ruthbru-

Can't believe we're the only ones! They are such great workouts. I'm doing three of those a week as well as three or four hill walks. Which ones do you do, the oldies or the new ones?

I have about all of them I think. I have some really old ones where you can see the mike hanging down from the ceiling, all the way through the 'Rock It Off' series. I change them up with walking outside or on the treadmill too as I LOVE the weights part but think I need a little more cardio than they give. I just got back from a two week vacation so I imagine I will be sore when I slap the DVD in later today. Do you have favorites?

Well I found this topic late!  I love these workouts. Unfortunately I am not the most coordinated person and some dvd's took me a long time to learn.

But they do kick your butt!!!!!!!!!

Way before my cancer started I could only do 45min out of a 1hr dvd. Hopefully I can get back to using them soon!

I love "The Firm" workouts. Especially the TransFIRMer series.  Can't wait to start using them again.

It takes me a couple of tries before I get the hang of a new dvd too, and I absolutely don't let anyone watch me while doing them. Way too embarrassing, lol.

I think they are hard for beginners because they move so fast (but thats why I like them). When I restarted after my treatments, I did them without any weights and then very slowly added weights back. I think it took a whole year (maybe more) before I was back to where I started (but I was kind of a chicken about overdoing things until my doctor told me that doing some weights is actually good to help build up the lymphatic system); and I was happy, happy, happy when I could do them all again like I had before. The plus side of being afraid to use my arms  is that I started doing more of the lower body workouts and actually have dropped a pant size without losing weight; has to be the FIRM!!

Glad to hear there are more of us. I love the later ones that were put out by Anna Benson not under the FIRM name, but this week went back to the an old favorite, #4 in the initial series. I am going to order a new set from Bensons web-site, "Fitness Favorites". They incorporate cardio, weight training and some yoga moves. My arms are finally starting to look less like chicken skin:)

I have an old 30 minute tape called Upper Body Sculpt (with the sculpting stick) that just snapped yesterday. I'm going in their website after I'm done here to see if I can still find it as it's my favorite upper body one.
