Happy Anniversary July Jedi Jug-A-Nauts!  Here is to being done with chemo, being de-ported (for some of us) and hair growth!!!  Waaaaawhoooooo!  Now if those pesky side effects would just go away...

WE ARE ALIVE!!!!  Now that's something to celebrate!

Yes, Michelle...I guess we are all still dealing with the aftermath. For me I'm fighting with Femara. Decided to just quit taking it. My s/e's on chemo were severe, but this has been an attack on my quality of life. Hope to recover, but after 3 weeks off...s/e's still there....ugh!!

But, Happy Aniversary....we ARE a strong bunch of JEDI'S!  Last year this time we were all traveling on new ground and so afraid of the unknown. This year, while we still don't know the future, we are survivors, strong and very knowledgeable. And a very formidable force to be reckoned with!!!

WE MADE IT!!!! Sometimes it's been really rough. Sometimes we felt all alone. Sometimes there didn't seem to be anyone who understood. We all turned to the internet. We all found each other. I for one am very thankful for everyone here who helped Mom and me get through this stage of our breast cancer journey. Here's to moving on, enjoying life to the fullest and loving life.

Thank you and God Bless all of you, my sweet sweet sisters.

I with Jacee. WE ARE ALIVE AND LIFE IS GOOD!!! We are going to all make it to a very old age and enjoy life and all our hair. It is hard to believe that it has almost been a year since I started chemo..I hope the SE of the drugs are gone for all. I am still losing my eyebrow hair, but never had any to start with. Enjoy the summer. I have been with my grandkids and husband. Hugs Dianne

Gill you are right....no news is good news, maybe???

Let's see...I am scheduled for a left prophylactic mast with bilateral DIEP/or SGAP on Sept. 8th. I will be going to Charleston, SC for 10 days for the surgery with Dr. Marga Massey. So, my journey continues. This will be at least a 3 stage, maybe 4 stage surgery over about a 6 month period or more.

My oldest son got married in mid April.  I had just finished rads, but I felt good and had healed fairly well.

Life does have a way of continuing and now there is a new "normal". I will never be the same, and maybe that is a good thing. I find it amazing that we were all drawn here for such a time as this. Who knew???  And we have risen...out of the ashes!! Live Strong Ladies.

    Happy Anniversary Triple J's!

It's great to see so many of you posting and to know that you are getting on with your lives. What a strong group of Jedis we are. When I think back over the past year I am amazed by what we have all been through and how we have come out the other side stronger than we were.

I am still taking Arimidex and although I did have some  joint pain/stiffness to start with, it has gone now, Not sure if this is due to the supplements I am taking, the exercise I am doing or my body just getting used to it. Tomorrow I am seeing my surgeon to discuss reconstruction. I am hoping to have this done during the college summer break so I can recover before we start back in September.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer.

Swanseagirl: so sorry you had to join the club.  This particular thread was started last year for July '09 chemo gals-you are welcome to read our pages (there are really good tips throughout) but we don't post on here very often anymore.  I imagine there is a chemo group for July '10 you can find.

Your treatment & mine look identical.  T/C was not a lot of fun, but it's do-able & survivorable-I'm living proof!!! Rads was a bit easier, but still not something I want to do on a regular basis, by any meansLaughing  Best wishes on your journey & as one of my BCO friends says, "Strength & courage!"

Swanseagirl~  Welcome...you will find lots of info on these boards!  Any ? you have ~ ask it and someone always has an answer or suggestion.  Your dx and mine look to be very similar.

good luck with your chemo, take good care of yourself.  Eat nutrition food, drink lots of water, and rest.

    warmly,

    Balsie

Hey everyone, Today is the one year from when I started chemo. I got through it and am going strong. I am working in my yard, I can not believe it is fun to hoe and pull weeds without gloves. The best thing is I get to mow which they would not let me do last year. Little and everyday things seem to become very important to me. i do not need big trips etc to be happy. Grandkids are the best. What is making everyone happy these days? post so we can make us all happy Hugs Dianne

Dianne-So good to hear!! Happy is a great place to be. I know what you mean about working in the yard. I feel the same way....realizing I took so much for granted before bc. Right now I'm very happy to finished with all treatment! Took myself off femara for a while. Enjoying the summer!

Dianne and Joni it's good to see you posting and I'm glad you are both enjoying the summer. Today is one year since my first chemo, so I'm right behind you Dianne.

I am also enjoying doing things in my garden, which got a little neglected last year, growing some vegetables, you can't beat the taste of really fresh home grown veg. I am very happy to be able to swim again, something I was not allowed to do during chemo and rads. It is good to be back at work (I teach at a college) and planning for next academic year. I am gradually getting my strength and stamina back. I am having my reconstruction on 26th July and looking forward to being less lopsided :-) Life is good!

I hope all the other Triple J's are having a good summer. Hugs to you all.

Jayne-What type of recon are you having? I have a surgery date of Sep 8th with Dr Marga Massey in Charleston SC. I will be having a prophylactic mast on the left and then either DIEP or SGAP. Still don't have insurance approval since it is out of network for me. Getting excited. It will be a 2 week trip to Charleston, but my DH will be with me and we hoipe to get in a few days of sightseeing before the surgery. These are 3 stage surgeries, so I'm looking at surgery and recoveries over the next 6 months from Sept. Can't wait to be "restored". Who knew a year ago that this journey was such a long one? Will be thinking of you. Please update after surgery as you feel up to it.

It's so nice to hear so many great anniversary stories from ya'all!

Just got back from a big vacation with DH, Mom and Dad. Mom is doing very well. She does have problems from the hormone medicine. Can't stand being in the sun and still has bone pain. But she's not one to complain.
Hope you all have a great 4th of July Weekend. My DD had her nose reset on Friday from a accident so we are laying low this weekend. Two of my kids are coming home for BBQ and we are going to be grand-puppy sitting my son's dog. He's in Calf. doing an internship.

well, I tried to put a bigger version of my new avatar on here, but so far can't figure it out.  This was taken the other day prior to cutting my hair for about the 4th time now.  Curls survived this cut too!  don't know if you can see them in the avatar that much, but it was pretty "long".  Head was shaved on or around July 20th '09, so now almost a year later, I'm just jazzed that I like my head again.  But still very few eyebrows-makes my face look unfinished & I've never been a make-up girl so I'm not able to paint on eyebrows that look good to me.  Arrgh-if it's not one thing, it's another!
