My very first chemo
This past Monday, June 7m I had my first chemo treatment. I am going through the ACT protocol. They say I am "healthy" enough for the big guns. The next two days were okay but Thursday found me so lethargic. In bed all day. But today I really thought I would get out and run some errands. Oh the joy of going outside. But it didn't happen. I am so tired. Today was the first day (since my diagnosis) that I cried. Cried alot. I had an appetite so stupid me ate the leftover pizza my daughter brought home from a party and now I have the worst heartburn.
And this is only week one.

Mango, I too cried several days into my first chemo. And it was the first time I had cried. Remember that you are full of steriods also and they can make you feel very emotional. Reach out on this board--you will find so much kindness and caring. Also, get yourself on the June 2010 chemo board so that you can talk with other gals who are going thru chemo at this stage.
It will get better. Blessings.

Mango, I'm feeling for you. I also had the ACT x6. It is tough, but you'll make it through. This board is so helpful. Be sure to come here to vent and ask whatever questions you want. There are so many lovely ladies that will come to your rescue with advice or words of encouragement. It's been a God sent for me.
Like Lizzie said, it does get better. Take care.

Mango: I just had my fourth round of TCH yesterday. I know it is not as strong as the ACT, but I can say that my first treatment was the hardest. I was nauseous, tired, everything tasted bad and smelled bad, I got sores in my mouth, no appetite. After the last two treatments, however, I feel almost completely normal.
I hope it will be the same for you. I was really fearful that it would get worse with time (everyone was telling me that it is progressive) but that has not been the case. Move around a lot -- I allways feel better the more active I am -- and eat and drink regularly. Sending positive wishes your way!
One love, Jackie

I was really emotional the first couple days after my chemo treatments too and very drowsy and nauseated at times. It does get better. After the first few days and first week, things will improve!

I am on FAC chemo and have had 4 treatments so far and go in for my 5th tomorrow, yuck! I have been very lucky and have had minimal side effects just a bit of nausea and more tired than usual. My 3rd treatment so far was the worst and on days 3 & 4 I could hardly get out of bed. My 4th treatment was a bit easier and some other people have told me that their 3rd treatment was the worst. I know all chemos are different and everybody responds differently so hopefully your first treatment will be as bad as it gets and they will be easier from here on out.

I did dose dense AC/T and had heartburn. Prilosec (with onc's approval) worked great. Good luck.

Are you on Tamoxifen? I'm not liking it.
