Chest rattling
I am getting herceptin every 3 weeks. I noticed after the last treatment that when I lay down (only) and take a deep breath in I can hear/feel rattling in my lungs. It goes away when I stand up and take deep breaths. I also have this slight cough..mostly at night. I am scared sh&*less that I have mets. I went to a Dr Nemeh... a faith healer last year and he told me he thought I had lung mets. I kind of hope it's a pleural effusion from reduced ejection fraction of my heart from the herceptin. I am scheduled for an echo at the end of this month.I saw the onc the same day i had treatment. I didn't notice it till a couple days afterward. Should I call my regular dr or the onc? I am scheduled for a pet scan in august. Anybody else get this without it being mets?

I also had/have a chec rattle. It turned out tobe ashma and also because chemo causes your blood count to drop-red blood carries oxygen, less red blood--less oxygen around the body; hence, breathing issues. I was put on Advair and it helped lots--also saw a pulmonologist for a complete work up.

I am in the middle of chemo right now (TC), and I notice that for the first couple of weeks after every infusion, my chest is rattly, and I have a very wet cough. When I asked my onc nurse about it, she said it was a normal reaction to the chemo. Do you find that it's worse nearer to the time you have the Herceptin and that it fades before your next infusion? That's what mine is like. Good luck, and I hope it's just a reaction.
hugs,
Jen

I had a chest xray and echo. My ejection f raction dropped from 68 to 55%. I think what I feel is a combo of things. While my EF is still normal it's possible that I am accumulating small amounts of pleural fluid... like chf ... and it's getting reabsorbed quickly. The other thing is that I am breastless on the left. When I inhale there is less muscle to cover my lungs so maybe it's just that it sounds louder because I don't have dense tissue covering it like on the right side. I finish herceptin this august and they have no plans of stopping it. 5 more tx and I will be done hopefully forever but you know how that goes...
