What comes after Xeloda
I have just finished 3 months of Xeloda/Tykerb, unfortunately due to severe diarrhea I had to stop both for a few days here and there. Just completed my Pet & CT and the tumors are still there just as big as ever. So what drug is available if Xeloda/Tykerb don't work. Won't miss the diarrhea from both of them.

I am on herceptin and tykerb. I had to drop the xeloda because of a reaction and I did have a dose reduction for the tykerb. That helped the diarrhea slow down a lot! I'm hoping that TDM1 is done with trials soon and available for us. Until then, I have been shopping around for chemos and I think navelbine might be my next choice. I've been on the tykerb\herceptin combo for almost a year....pretty nice!

Had to get off herceptin after about 3 months of it due to it slowing down the ejection fraction of my heart. I have been on xeloda/tykerb for 3 months and have 3 more months to go. I haven't heard of navelbine or TDM1, how do I shop around for the latest drugs? I always like to know what the latest drug is. My mets are in my liver, one is really large. They have shrunk a bit but it is really slow due to the decrease in the tykerb dosage. I now take 500 mg of tykerb a day instead of 1250 mg of tykerb a day. It was just too severe of diarrhea that I would end up in the hospital.

Sorry the tykerb is so hard on you.....I live on immodium some days...bleck! To find out the latest her2+ drugs I check out the clinical trials and read posts on the stage IV forum and this one to find out what others have done and how it was for them.
TDM1 is herceptin with chemo in it and if you had to be taken off it, this may not be an option for you.

Well, I am back in trouble again. I was having leg swelling, went for an ultrasound on my leg and they found 2 blood clots. One is massive and about15" long in my abdomen, the other is still below my knee. Tried to do a surgical procedure to break up and pull out the clot but my veins were too narrow so I have to go the chemical route of Lovenox and Coumadin. Not real comfortable about all this, have to stay home this week and keep my leg up. Hope this works.

I am on Taxol with Herceptin and Tykerb. Started the Tykerb 750mg. just a few days ago and had one bad episode of diarrhea, but it seems to have calmed down. I guess it is just a matter of learning what I can/cannot tolerate on this drug. I have to be on Tykerb for a full year, so I am hoping for the best.
