Of course, nothing goes wrong before the week end.  Then is when your tooth starts hurting, your meds run out (no excuse, they were getting low).  And the daughter calls and her hot water heater is busted.  Figures the plumber is out on the lake snockered.  LOL

At least I have pain meds left over from the hip and can eat liquids and soft food till the dentist comes back Tues. (I hope).  Of course, couldn't eat the ribs dh smoked, have a GI virus? and noodle soup is my big whoop.

Ahh, timing, what would we do without out.

Oh, Dottie -- that sux!  I'm sorry...  If it makes you feel any better, I have to work all weekend (so I guess I won't get a toothache or GI virus until I get a day off)...

    Hugs, Ann

    Hey, Dottie.

Boy,talk about a timely thread.  Right there with you!  I fell down the stairs at work last week and broke two different bones in my right leg, per the emergency room.  Since this happened at work, I need a workers comp number in order to get an appt scheduled with an orthopedist.  No one will schedule the appt without it.  Due to the holiday, the Department of Labor was behind assigning numbers...then it was discovered my boss had omitted his signature from the form and he's out of town until next week...due to the holiday.  By the time I will get to see a doctor for a real cast, my leg will have been broken for 2 weeks.  All I can do is lie on my back with my my foot on a pillow and hope my temporary cast made from ace bandages and a splint holds the bones in place until I can get a real cast.  Hope you get squared away soon!

Ahhhh, Patrice, yours trumps mine, coming and going!  Do you have good drugs?  You should be ok, but --- what are you doing about going potty?  May I suggest a bedside commode?  Seriously.  God's gift to women who are gimps.  (I speak from experience and never dreamed I'd use one).  Easy to rent and have delivered.  Just need someone to empty ---Yeah, I know.  I am pretty sure my dh didn't figure that one in the marriage vows, but he and I have pretty strong stomachs.

And don't forget the stool softner and baby wipes for the pits and such.  You'll feel a lot better.  Both bones, wow.  That's a kicker, girl.  (scuse the pun)  I have a lot more suggestions for ya, just PM me and I'll share.  Good ol' nurse Dotti on call.

Hope you get some reading in.  That really, really sux.

Hey, Dottie.  I do have good drugs.  Our bedroom has an en suite bathroom and my bed is one of those that sits up very high so it's extremely easy for me to get in and out of.  So with my crutches it's not much of a problem to get there.  My husband devised a great method for bathing.  He turned our recycling bin upside down in the tub...it's the same height as the top of the tub...drapes a towel over it for comfort. I'm able to back onto it, swing my good leg in and keep my fractured leg out of the tub. The bin is real stable...so I feel very secure on it.  In fact, showering is now, hands down, the highlight of my day.  LOL.

Bone-healing foods include lots of greens and fruit...basically roughage...but I still may take your tip on the softners.  All these drugs are giving me flashbacks to that awful side effect of chemo.  Ugh.

You have it all together, kiddo.  As usual.  Funny thing about injuries/surgeries: they all have about the same follow up care--basic activities of daily living.  Smart husband, ya did good.  Try to enjoy a bit of time off due to screw ups, and take care of YOU.

    Hugs
