did anyone have aching bones 2 months after chemo?
My mum had her last chemo about two months ago and she finished her radio 2 weeks ago.
She had 3 fec and 3 tax, she didnt really have a lot of physical side affects from the chemo but the last week her body has started to feel really achey. Does anyone no if this is normal?

I finished chemo sept 08 and still sometimes get achy bones. I think they say anything over two weeks check with your Dr. I had a PET and it was fine, just side effects from the chemo lingering on!

Yes, and I really wondered why I just couldn't pick myself up and get on with life, now that treatment was finally over. My understanding is that it is natural, b/c chemo targets all fast-replicating cells (hair, cancer, lining of stomach, bone marrow). so I decided to accept it as a sign that the chemo had done a great job. I used to lay in bed and think "I could draw a map of my skeleton based on the pain I feel inside each bone." Like chemo brain (which really scared me and it wasn't really recognized in 2004) it helped to know that I was not going to feel that way forever. And it was no reflection on my mental capacity to "bounce back", It just takes longer for some of us. I wish your mom well.

Oh Honey, I'm 9 months out of chemo and I definitely have aching bones. Worst in the a.m., but 15 mins or so later, start to "loosen up." My onc said it's totally normal and could go on for years in some women. I just turned 63, and was totally healthy and very active before the chemo. Since the chemo - aches and soreness. Still work full time and raise my 15 year old grand-daughter, so I can't stop too long in any one place, otherwise I'm afraid I'll turn to stone! Lol!

Oh yeah..achy bones definetely....mine was mostly in my legs...if I sat down too long I was pretty creaky when I got up..had to walk it off...I would go walking for 3 miles..feel fine..drive home from the track and had a hard time getting out of the car.
I'm sure it is 100% normal..but keep an eye on it if the pain doesn't let up....I'm 10 months from my last chemo and the achiness is pretty much gone...it should be better every day..

My onc said it's because our bone marrow is working hard to replace the cells that were damaged/killed during chemo - he told me to give the aches and pains of chemo 12 - 18 months. Ugh!!!!

Achy feet and legs..I blame it on the Taxol..I finished chemo in june 09 and the feet still were achy in oct 09. Mainly 1st thing in the morning or if I sat for any lengh of time.
I like Titan walked. To me it seemed the more I moved the less it bothered me but eventually you have to sit.

i still have aches but not as bad, i am 36 and used t be very fit, i find the car hard on long drives or sitting on a low chair, but it has very much inproved since January as steep stairs used to kill me and now they are fine. Give it time and patience and either we get used to it or it does lessen.
it is very hard not to think that every ache and pain is something more but we probally had some anyway just we focus more on them now and get sick of having a pain somewhere??

Agree with you hope2...My feet and legs sometimes do feel achy...I exercise a lot but they still ache sometimes...back in November at my 3 month check my onco asked if I felt achy..yes..I was still achy..it's better..but still not best...I hear that these se's could last up to a year or longer..and .like you I freak..but then we have to remember those drugs that were put into us....we can't expect the se's go to away that quickly.

I was so healthy during treatment yet I ache all over from the chemo. It just takes our bodies time to heal. I did my last chemo on 3/1///10.

I was diagnosed Feb 2009, finished chemo Aug 09, finished radiation Oct 09. I have experienced achy joints, too, and my knuckles are swollen as well. I wake up in the morning and it hurts to bend my fingers.
I saw my oncologist, who denied this had anything to do with chemo, but my family physician said he's heard of it before, and prescribed me meloxicam. Took a month to start to work (which I was advised of) and now I'm feeling great - 12 months post chemo, and I still take the meds daily.
I am 39 years old.... too darn young to be feeling arthritic!! :-)

dayzoo! I'm about the same as you are..diagnosed 3/09...my aches have finally gone away...I would go running, feel great..and then when I got out of the car to go in the house I could barely walk! Weird stuff...
Jodi..is your mom doing better?
