THE 2ND TA TAS SISTERHOOD REUNION IN VEGAS!!

I'm hoping for one of those Southwest DING specials. Right now, it's $441. OUCH!
-
I booked my flight in March. I thought the earlier the better. I am flying out of Memphis for a total of $272.90. Arriving in Vegas before noon Friday and departing Vegas Monday right after noon.
Joyce I think you could do better. Check with Expedia. I also plan on playing the slots but I am not going to "give" them much of my money so they had better let me win some to keep me playing...LOL
-
Also try www.lastminute.com plus sign up for all of the airline newsletter internet specials. You can arrive and depart whenever you want! IT'S VEGAS BAYBEE!! I like to get there early and leave late. :-)
-
I just went to Expedia and if I was getting this same flight today it would cost me $315.90....so glad I booked early....Well it is just $43 more but hey, more money to play on...
-
Thanks TA TAS for all the great advice! I thought Southwest would be cheaper too, but they were $460 plus I would have to leave out of Baltimore which is further from my house. It didn't make sense! The $405 did include taxes, etc. I've been looking since you told me you booked Linda, but there doesn't seem to be any deals. I'll give it a couple more weeks.
-
Mona and Lilah... I may have to rethink my going back to North Conway in August. It's too close to our VEGAS trip and I want to leave myself some fun money to play the slots!
As far as fares go, mine was $369 plus taxes which came in just under $500 CDN.I booked through Flightnetwork.com

Jazzy, I'm so glad that your tests came back benign! What a wonderful relief! Did I thank you for sending the t-shirt? If not, thanks so much. It is Very cute.
I'm in the middle of it all with work and kids and end of school year stuff, but I'm happy whenever I think of my get-away weekend in Vegas. I only wish it would come sooner!
Kristen
-
Hey Kristen..did you get both shirts?? I sent you a check let me know when you get it ok. :-)
-
Joyce: Whatever you find... try to land in Vegas EARLY AM Friday... and leave LATE Monday. More time for your money. I am going to try to land before 11 am FRI.. and leave Monday after 3.. if I can...
When we get closer to our trip... I will start putting together a " landing team". This worked out great last yr. There will be two groups. One who land prior to noon. One who lands from 12-4pm. This way... thee are only TWO groups of Tata's waiting for eachother... and we all have many sisters to ride back to the Hotel with.
I will do this in September.
MONA.. I only stopped treatment 6 months ago. .. So my hair is the length you see. Herceptin made my hair only grow 1/8 inch a month.. VERY frustrating....LOL... I JUST got my first hair cut last week.. to clean it up.. BUT... my70- 80's hubby.. has informed me.. he LOVES it shortish...LOL... like the picture...
.. it is a hair longer than my picture now.
It only grew 6 inches long in 19 months... NORMAL hair grows about 9 inches or more in this time frame. I DID have the back cut inverted some over this past yr.. as it looked longer than the front.... mullet style...LOL.... Anywho... I am still deciding what to do.. my customers ALL think I look younger with it shorter... and no color on it.. ( Everyone tells me I looked older with blond hair..????) who knows... LOL... I do, however.. like your new shot!!! Can you even believe.. we were BALD coming up on two yrs ago....
Thank you sweet Lord for "our" site... BCO!
-
HEY girls... FYI
If any of you live in driving distance from me.. ( SUNSHINE... I thought of you)... and your airfare is up in the 400-500 price... You could drive to my house the day/night before and we can take the same flight out of KC... our flights are always 200-300 bucks to Vegas. I have not booked my air yet.. so let me know...this could save you about 100 bucks after the gas to get to me..

Yes, I dropped off the face of the earth for awhile!
Jazzy - great news - so very happy! And I do need to get that darn check in the mail to you. I really do have a valid excuse other than I just hate to write out checks and mail them. I like to deliver my checks - I know stupid but I can't stand paying bills so I wait until I accumulate 2 months worth and then I pay out. It is not as though we don't have the money - it is me getting motivated!
So my dh finally got back from Morocco but this was the day after someone broke into our house while I was at church with my stepson who then proceeded to accuse ME of stealing his items because I was ALONE in the house for 30 minutes without him. Yes, the boy that I have raised for 8 years, gave up my career to raise him and his sister, have been a mom to him all of this time - his own biological mother was addicted to crack at one time but she can move heaven and earth in his eyes and I am just an evil person married to his father. I guess I got slapped in the face pretty hard with that so I have totally disengaged from him. His father can raise him from now on - I am through which of course means my husband and I are fighting - barely talking even though he was gone for 3 weeks.
I also find out that this "bruised" ribs were actually fractured ribs. I had new x-rays done this week and I fractured ribs #4, 5, 6, and 7 on the right side. And you wonder why I have been on pain meds when it hurt to even breathe? Oh and the wonderful entitled stepson proceeded to tell his dad that he had to fend for himself the entire time daddy was gone and if daddy wanted, he would cook his dinners for him. I told my husband - "oh so you now have 2 wives because it seems awful strange that you talk to him about going to Spain next year before you mention a word to me" So you can tell I am not a happy camper and I need to get the heck out of Dodge! I so can't wait for October! Oh and let me mention - I took him out to dinner 3 times and also cooked meals for him as I was screaming in pain everytime I even moved my body.
Lilah - if we go to the old downtown Vegas - Mermaids has the old style poker machines that you use nickles. There was also one other place on the strip next to the Flamingo - it is called Barnaby Coast - an older casino and 5 years ago they still had the poker slots that used nickles and not the paper tickets. I just don't feel as though it is gambling if I have to cash out a ticket instead of hearing the clinking of the coins hitting the tray at the bottom of the slot!

I must have killed this thread

Jancie: Vent on! We're all here to help each other out. I have 3 step-kids of my own so I know what you're going through! Hope things improve in your neck of the woods.....you really don't need all this crap!

Hi ladies, I'm jumping in here at the very end... what what the final decision on dates/location for your visit to Vegas? I'm a local and I'd love to catch up with you! I'm still in chemo, and then I'll be doing rads, but I think I'll be ready for some fun by this fall! Need any more info from a local perspective? Anything I can send you- flyers, newspapers, etc? Just let me know!
-
Hi Melanie, we will all be there Oct 1, 2,3 and 4. The host hotel is Planet Hollywood, though some...like myself may be staying somewhere else. I will be at the MGM Grand. You definitely need to join us! It will be so much fun!
Teresa
-
Melanie.. nice to meet ya! You will see post here coming together around July-August.
STEPHANINE... I am going to look into this. I do not think any of us have our tickets. Thank you for the offer!!!
A SISTER ON BCO needs some major prayers . I will not give up her story or privacy ( not my place) but she NEEDS prayer for her special intention. Girls.. we ALL know this girl here...... PLEASE lift her up in your prayers...
Off to Church...
-
hi ladies I finally got back on here to catch up
I don't have my tickets bought but 100% sure I'm going
will keep all options in mind...
I already signed up for Thur - Tues off work because usually when ever I do anything on weekends I try to take extra days off before and after to get things done but would be willing to say the family could pick up the slack once.
I have mentioned my friend Kim to a lot of you several times. I had a friend introduce me too her right after I was diagnosed (Feb 08). Kim's cancer journey started in May 07. She was the gal that sent me a link about reconstruction and I found out you could actually look normal again after reconstruction. Around Christmas I had found out her cancer went to her brain so they did radiation and when I visited her about 2 or 3 months ago she seemed better and I was hopeful. Kim was never one to complain or reach out when things weren't going well. I had sent her a text about 2 or 3 weeks ago and asked how she was doing...she said ok but a tough day. I told her if she was off work and wanted to get out for the day just let me know and I would take a day off. She told me she might take me up on that but I hadn't heard from her and work has been so busy I never gave her a call
. This last Monday I had heard she might not be doing well so I sent her sister a note letting her know if she needed anything, that's when I found out they called hospice in last Friday and this Saturday when I was out for a bike ride I got a voice-mail saying she passed away ( 39 years young mother of 3).
About the same time she actually passed I was riding my mountain bike down a gravel road and had to get over since vehicles were coming up. I about lost it on the loose gravel not sure how I kept it up. Now I know it was that special angel looking over me.
I was told she passed away peacefully...
-
Sandy, I am so very sorry about Kim. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and also with you.
Jancie, I hate that you are having to deal with that crud. You just vent all you want to dear sister. You should not be treated like that.
I just posted some updated pics of my tattoos at 2 weeks. They still look the same today. I am very pleased.
How many days til Vegas?
-
Sorry to hear about your friend Kim. This is always so tough to hear when someone doesn't beat cancer no matter how hard they fight it. I went through that with my Mom 22 years ago. Kim was so young and I know how hard it is on kids to hear their parent has cancer. Watching them go through the fight. My thoughts are with you and Kim's family. Take care Sandy

PRAYERS HUGS So So very sorry for all the sad news!!
122 days girls till VEGAS-just know that our Dear Family of friends whom we've losted will be there with us in SPIRIT- all sharing in the Strong bond that we've created with each other!!!

Jancie -- sorry I was away for 5 days and just got back and saw your post. That is wonderful about the downtown strip casinos! I love going there -- something about the seediness appeals
I also think the walkway they created (can't remember what it's called atm) is so fun! LOL on thinking you killed this thread. Also: your husband needs to spend a little time hearing you, it seems to me, and connecting. Sorry you're having so much crap at home... you don't need this!
Sandy -- I am so sorry to hear about your friend Kim. It is unbelievably unfair.
Melanie -- all the details for the final plan are in the header post on this thread: we're convening Oct 1 - 4 at Planet Hollywood
The rest of the details / activities to be anounced later this summer.
-
Aw Sandy . . . that sucks. Plain and simple. My thoughts are with you. I had tears in my eyes as I read your post and I didn't even know Kim. HUGS.
Off to look at your pics, Linda.
-
Sandy -- I am so sorry to hear about Kim. Hearing something like that makes my problems seem so trivial. However, I am glad that the angel was watching over you! Be careful out there!
