Janie, I haven't seen the tennis, but my mom is all over it. She's starting her league today.

Well, clean PET or not, onc says chemo.... Drat. I was hoping if it was clear, he'd forget that the 1.2 cm latest tumor grew so quickly and would just recommend oopherectomy and aromatase inhibitor. I guess better safe than sorry. Of course, if it's not clear, it's a no-brainer.

Mary, thanks for the lovely card you sent. Really was a pick-me-up. I so appreciate you guys being here.

What's the Herceptin schedule this week for you guys?

So, now I have two sisters coming down for the surgery. (I also asked the onc's nurse if she knew if they could just do the ooph. on Monday while I'm out) So we're going out for Mexican food and margaritas on Saturday. Ole!

Hey Paula, Mary, Renee, Nancy, Lurkers:

I'm glad your sisters are coming to be with you PJ. Have a Jumbo margarita while you're at it.

Herceptin day is Wednesday. Not much different there. I am still going round and round with insurance and Mayo about the PET scan where they precertified and then didn't pay because of some paperwork goof by Mayo who is now wanting me to pay the whole thing immediately. We can't rest a minute -- always something.

    Later Ladies,

    Janie

Yea Baby, that'll be you after a "few" Margaritas....You go girl....I know we all will be praying and pulling for ya. It sounds like you have a lot of support gonna be with ya and we will all be there in spirit. How long will you be in the hospital? You can belley on up to the ol chemo pole with us for a spell. I only have 8 months to go. No; time is not passing fast this time around......and I don't mind cause I am getting older every month. I have lost another 2 lbs. since I came home from Phoenix. I have lost 10 lbs. and it seems its coming off pretty quickly. This diarrhea probably has a lot to do with it but thats only like a wk. out of 2. I have had a lot of pain in my hip so I think that has a little to do with it too. I am glad you liked the card. I am thinking of starting a friendship braclet. It would be a charm braclet(the one like a stretch watch braclet) and we could send it around and wear it a month and add a charm and send it on to the next friend. Each charm could represent something about us such as tennis, our birthstone and I think that should be a given, an apple if you were a teacher, type writter etc. our favorite animal, a number for how many kids we have, what ever is a piece of our life or personality. It would be an unbroken circle of friendship, courage and support. Just a thought and I would buy it and start it for us. Let me know if yous are interested. At work, gotta go, everyone sleep well. Hugs, Mary

I wonder if they make a charm with a chemo pole with a scull and crossbones like the little bags of chemo that say "TOXIC"......Just wondering. Mary

Paula, I had my ooph at the same time as my lumpectomy. A gyn dr. came in after the first surgeon. Recovery was easy with the laproscopic surgery. I hope you can have both surgeries right away.
    Love the bracelet idea.

Ditto on the bracelet. Great idea!

The laposcopic surgery is so much better than the old timey kind. That's how I had my gall bladder removed.

Emory is now advertising heart surgery without an incision.

Hi Girls, I will get on that braclet this wk. end. Bedtime, everyone sleep tight and have good dreams. I am going to dream that my hubby actually fixes something....right. Ahhhh, thats pretty unbelieveable even for a dream. I will just be thrashing all night trying to call all the repairmen for help to fix all his fix-er-uppers. Well gotta go to bed. Hugs, Mary

    Hi All,

I may be sleeping off the Benadryl tonight. PJ, I will be thinking about you tomorrow and praying for the best news.

Mary, Did your DH repair anything during the night? You know what I hate? When I work during my sleep -- even down to doing the exact task -- then I wake up and I worked all night and got nothing done.

You all have a good one.

    Hugs,

    Janie

Hey girls, I think my job may be about done and thenI come home after a very rough day and I have a good one....I had a call on my recorder about a bill for $2600.00 and I called real quick!!!!!I have been breaking my back to get and keep all the medical bills caught up(or paying on them and I will be for some time) ANYHEW....My dentist/almost ex brother-in-law turned me, my daughter, my sister-in-law and brother in for bills we don't owe!!!! I had dental insurance and my brother and sister-in-law. I haven't even had that much work done....My bonding was completely paid and I am looking for other insurance paid statments from my ins. I keep them for a couple years. Yea, can you believe that????" I told the collection guy how can I pay a bill I don't owe and even if I had a bill shouldn't I get a statement first and have a chance to pay it????? I told him what was going on and I have to write a letter of dispute but when I get it cleared up they just put paid off on your credit report not completely clear it from your credit so it will look like I had a bill and paid it.... Thats dirty!!!! Oh, I have to prove I don't owe it first....I will let it go to court just to see how he will lie to say we owe it. I am writing to the the Dental board and Better Business Bureau. My daughter thats ingaged to the ortho surg. is sending a bill from their corp. for referral and consults for my niece thats had a lot of surgery because Mr. Dentist would call and ask for advice about all the treatments and surgeries she had to have. Ya know they have 3 kids and the one has C.P. and he doesn't pay support. What ever I do to him it sure wont hurt my sister financially cause shes getting nothing anyway. Hope everyone is well. I am still praying for P.J. Oh, I have to chill....I am so upset. Janie this guy is a power craver. It totally upsets me that he is in control of my life a little ya know???? Well, I better go practice breathing. 1,2,3....God Evening. Mary

Mary, what a bummer. I think I told you Mayo is saying I have to pay 4700.00 by next week because they made a billing error and the insurance doesn't want to pay it because of how it is coded, and it was pre-certified. We really need financial worries on top of everything else.

PJ, Will be thinking and praying tomorrow.

    Night all,

    Janie

Well, the scan went fine today. It actually took less time this time around. Find out results tomorrow. Not that I'm sure I'll believe whatever they tell me. I've heard too many stories since the last one of false results from them.

    Hope you all are well.

Hi Girls, P.J. I am waiting to hear. Janie, yea I am calm now. I hope I have to go to court actually so I can see what kinda work I had done. The credit co. man called today and said he has all my families bills and thinks its kinda suspicious so he is calling Mr. Dentist tomorrow and ask for an itemized list and see if he can get him to pull these. He won't pull them because he will want to "show" us. He is Bi-Polar and thats the truth. Well I better go it's bedtime and I have to work, work, work tomorrow. I wish I was a caller-iner. I could use a day or two a wk. off. Well tomorrow little ladies. Its cool here like 74 after 90 degrees, burrrr. Good sleeping tonight at 64. Good Night, Mary

Alas, the damn things still show up on the PET scan. Doc says it makes it more likely it's mets to lymph nodes, but they still can't be sure since it doesn't show up on CT.

Anyway, so surgery Monday and chemo starts probably around Oct. 13. To make things even crappier, they're not doing chemo in my town anymore, so I have to drive down to Temple (45-60 mins depending on traffic) for the damn infusions. They got some new hot shot oncologist to head the department and he's changing things around. NOT for the more convenient.

    Damn, damn, damn.

Mary, hope you give that dentist the what for. Janie, Renee, hope things are OK and you have great weekends.

HI ladies... Damn is right Paula! Why would they take infusions from an area.. I'm sure the area was getting used frequently- unfortunately.
Good luck Mary with your Bipolar Molar guy. Janie you are quite clever!

Well, so I called to find out what time surgery was and the nurse told me she was sorry but they couldn't manage the time I wanted (9 a.m., so I could take Nathan to school first) and that I'd have to be down there (an hour away) at 6 a.m.

It actually made me cry. And I left work. So I called back and pretty much begged, and they've reworked the schedule they said wasn't reworkable and how I'm to be there at 9 a.m. At least that's ONE small thing to feel better about. I feel like I'm constantly getting crappy news. So that was a little bright spot. I'll have to try begging more often.

Sisters are due in tomorrow. And I REALLY feel like having a drink.

Hope you guys have a lovely weekend. I plan to.

P.J. I am so very sorry you have to go through this. I am glad your sisters will be there. I think you are in good hands. I hope you can find some piece. Your mind has to be running in high gear. Well, next summer should be good for all of us. Janie and I have to learn to Hula. Frankly I don't think my bones will work good enough to do those moves. They'd be all cracking and crunching like rocks in a meat grinder. Some old hippie would probably try to smoke my skirt. Gotta go. Paula you keep your chin up and try to find some calm, we are all with you. chilly hugs tonight girls, Mary

Mary, as they used to say on Johnny Carson, HOW COLD IS IT? If it is chilly there, I bet Renee is freezing.

Nancy, we are on the fast track now. I am glad. I am beginning to swell a little more and even itching a little. I think it might be cumulative.

Paula, I hope you and your sisters are having a blast.

Good luck with everything tomorrow P.J. and I confirm Janie's thoughts that we will all be with you in spirit. Janie we haven't heard from Nancy for a while. I am wondering if she is alright. I have another little gift from treatment, I have never had them in my life but thanks to the diarrhea I have a little roids. They have calmed down but I bet they will be back next wk. end. Gee I just can't get enough surprises. I have itching for about 3 days after treatment, theres no rash just random itching here and there. Well better go. I will be praying for ya P.J. and I will say a prayer for all you girls. Its warm today maybe mid. 80's but at night its mid 50's. For 2 days it was highs of about 62, after 90's, that was cold mixed with the rain and wind. Later girls, Mary

PJ, I know you feel like you were hit by a truck right now, but when you are well enough to read this, just know that we were thinking of you today and praying all went well.

Mary, You are right. I just checked. Nancy Lee last posted on August 30 and she had not been doing all that well. I hope she is ok. She may be up to her eyeballs in preschoolers.

Now that I'm winding down, my swelling is increasing and I have mild itchy rashes. Does your throat ever starting closing up?

    Have a good evening ladies.

Hope all is well P.J. You are probably wackd out of your mind right now on some good shit. Just enjoy it, they will take you off it soon. Janie yea, my throat feels a little tight for a day or two and it felt real tight the time the nurse forgot to run the benadry for a while. I also notice a cough off and on the first wk. of treatment and my chest feels tight. I am thinking of seeing how 6 months as apposed to 1 yr. may work. I have read about becoming amune to Herceptin. I would rather use it later when I need it more but I am going to talk to Onkie. I don't know if thats true at all. I am just sick of my job and need a change and I can't keep up with all the med. bills and cobra if I change jobs. I am screwed...Well, better go I have to work tonight, just what I need. (Sigh)Big hugs girls, Mary

    Hi Mary,

I recently read a post on another thread about building up an immunity to Herceptin. I've read that Herceptin is an immunity therapy itself. I think my dosage may be too high, especially since the nurse said it's the highest she has seen. It is so new, who knows the answers to all this. Have a good day. Gotta go in early today. Talk at you later. Janie

Hi Janie, I am going to the Dr. in Spring. today for my hip. He is an ortho guy that specializes in spines. I don't know that I would have surgery but I want to know what is going on and what my optians are. I also want to find out what is wrong with my neck, after all these years I finally get some answers. I will probably need more M.R.I.'s. Well better get my stiff chemo bones moving. Later, Mary
