Herceptin causes vomit?

I will start Herceptin in a few weeks and i will take it for a year every three weeks. I would like to ask you if Herceptin has caused you nausea and vomiting?
Thank you in advance

Hello, Zoegr, I have never had any side effects from Herceptin, that I'm aware of. I started it in November of 2008, weekly with Taxol, and then every three weeks by itself. The infusion is ninety minutes; I am in my second year and will finish in November.
There are some infusion days when I feel a little woozy and tired when I'm finished, but I think it's just the chemo atmosphere and the soft chair. And, I don't always sleep well the night before that infusion because it brings back memories of the harsher chemo days past.
There are several women at my oncology office who all come in for Herceptin on the same day, and none of us get premeds.
I have seen posts on this board from women who had some discomfort when the infusion time was too short--like 30 minutes. I don't know about the one-hour infusion.
And--for what it's worth--my hair grew thick and very fast, Herceptin does not slow or inhibit that.
Warmest,
Cathy

Hi, I never had any symptom with herceptin at all.
-
I have had my first Herceptin only treatment, after 12 Taxols and H's. I do a 30 minute infusion every three weeks. No side effects to note except the drippy nose. I have had a little wooziness and unsteadiness. I think that is because I am still worn out from the chemo and pushing myself a little too much.
I did have a little nausea with the T and H, no vomiting though and nothing bad enough to need meds.
It has been 1 1/2 weeks since the T and I haven't had any nausea, even threw out the emergency barf bag I had stashed in my purse!

No vomiting for me. I do take some Tylenol before though.
-
The only side effect I had was a runny nose, some joint pain nails flakeing and skin on finger tips splitting, these were all very mild. but no vomiting. good luck on your treatments

I am having my Herceptin no. 8 this afternoon. No nausea/vomiting at all, but I have achy joints and some tiredness (not really jumping out of the bed in the morning). Aching is not too bad - not bad enough for any medication.
And yes - I think Herceptin does slow the hair growth ..@#$!!Jenna

I've been on herceptin continously since 2008 and it never caused me much nausea and no vomiting. I get the one hour infusion, but tried the 30 minute and I got a little woozy. I just backed off to the hour and then just had the drippy nose and achy joints. Adding tykerb to the mix is a different story, tho :> You will do fine and breeze thru the year!!

Thank you so much for your responses. I had vomiting with my chemo for three days after each infusion so this is my nightmare. So glad to know that Herceptin doesn't cause this.
I would also like to ask about the joint pain. How many days lasts after each infusion with Herceptin? I have to know because i'm a dance teacher and this can affect my work.
Thank you!

I had fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting with my first herceptin. Here in Okinawa they put you in the hospital for your first one. It is common for some women to have these symptoms as the first herceptin is double the dose. I had my second one last week and no problem except the runny nose. I am having diarhea issues, but the doctor said we won't know if it is from my taxotere or herceptin until July.

Hi, zoegr--I am under the impression that my joint and muscle pain is a side effect of the Arimidex I'm taking, not Herceptin. My oncologist and the nursing staff say that what I am experiencing will not abate when I'm done with Herceptin in November.
Everyone I know who has had this side effect from any of the anti-hormonals or other chemo drugs says that Yoga is the answer. I was a Pilates student and Yoga is so different--I just haven't gotten around to it but I do intend to try it.
Warmly,
Cathy

I had vomiting from the start; we switched to weekly doses instead of every three and it wasn't as prolonged, but I still had a day or two of vomiting every week. I also had severe joint/muscle pain, but thise were the only two issues.
-
Zoegr: I had joint pain fom the Taxol, but am not having any joint pain on the Herceptin only infusion.
The only SEs I can attribute to the Herceptin in my drippy nose and looser stools (not diarrhea).
