Oh Norm. What a bittersweet "work" you are engaged in. To throw your heart around these children who are so in need..... It's good that you know this is a good permanent placement for them. Of course, the reality of our world's story -- there will indeed be 'more.'

What a blessing that you can support these children in their time of need.

Suz. Thinking of you. Sending you encouragement for your recovery.

We are just about an hour from home. I am very fortunate that my hubby has been able to travel with me during these first several outtings, post-surgery. He has done all of the driving, hauling, schlepping and that has allowed me to use my limited energy in my actual presentations.

Hopefully I will begin to regain some stamina in the weeks ahead.

Norm. You are such an inspiration.

Hugs to all who are in our Norm-family..... and to any who may occasionally read along.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

    Strength and courage.

    Strength and courage.

    Strength and courage.

Edited to add a pic for the top of the page. LOL

Some sunshine from FL, earlier this month.

Hello my friends, Hope all is well as its so quiet here.

Norm I guess you have the kids for another month still. Hope your enjoying them!

I seem to be healing well, but am still soo sore. Just booked a magical mystery tour starting Sunday. Will be hopping a plane to San Diago, exploring for a few days then jumping on a 4 day cruise that will bring us right back home to Vancouver.

I wasnt sure if I was ready for it, but no time like the present... Got a gazillion things to do so Ive been awake since 4am with my head whirling. Of course nothing is even open till 9 or 10am. First of all I need to wait for my at home nurse to call to set up her appointment to remove my last drain (hopefully) Then i can work around the rest.

    Love & Hugs Suz

Hi Faith, been super busy lately myself.Things didnt workout with the fosterhome that were suposed to take the kids at the end of the month(think they were scared of taking on 4 kids at one time, with the reality)so I guess I will have them for awhile longer.Which is a blessing in some ways but puts a damper on the future of the 3 brother's that are waiting to move in with me. Very stressfull times, but we shall overcome..Man when I ask the Lord to keep me busy,he took me serious.kinda makes me think of elvis(this time lord you gave me a mountian.lol..)Oh well tomorrow is a new day,who knows what his plans are?

Glad to hear your doing okay and keeping busy(not too busy I hope)How are your grandbabies?

Well I have court in the morning so I had better get some sleep....take care my dear friend and never think we have one another,KNOW  WE DO...norm

Norm, thanks so much for the newsy report. Goodness you are being kept busy & making a world of a difference in the lives of these children. Thank heavens that you are willing & able to tend to them. I get all choked up just hinking about your contribution.

My world has really had some steep ups & downs lately..... I have been referred to a new BC specialist, but it will be another month before I can get in. It's time for a second opinion. In the meantime, I am going to PT, 2 or 3 times a week. This chronic pain is a new one for me. Harsh to say the least. I am doing everything in my power to keep my attitude and soul above water. Some days are easier than others. It's times like yesterday, that I'm grateful to everyone here for their support & encouragement.

Norm, I wanted you to know that I walked in our Komen 5K over the weekend. I had Brenda's name on my t-shirt again. She is along the top of the shirt, with the other angels who watch over us from heaven. Just wanted you to know.

    NORM NORM NORM NORM!!!

I finally, today, finally after waiting for 7 weeks, had my first appointment with my 'new' second opinion BC surgeon.

She performed a miracle and I'm thrilled.

She aspirated a huge hard knot on my incision and I can breathe!!!!!!!

    I am sooooooooooooooo thrilled.

So optomistic that I have finally turned a corner.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

I wanted you to be certain to know.

    Hmmmmm. Norm.

I don't know that series of letters???

It would be fun to guess, I suppose.

    "Arts really invite lovely yoddeling."

    "Antiques rarely integrate lost yams."

    "Are you in lotsa yellow?"

This could be plenty of fun, if I had more time.

Packing up. (Imagine that) Headed north again, by way of my surgeon's office. Twill see what they think of my progress over the last month. Then on to a graduation party then west till we head north tomorrow.

    T.C.O.Y. (Take care of yourself!!)

    Hi Norm,

How are you? Its been a while since Ive been here, how is everything... I think of you often and send a prayer that your well.

It seems so quiet here, I guess everyone is busy with summer & all, so I'll just chatter a bit. Ive spent my summer doing some serious renovations & deck building that has been on hold for too many years. Think I may have gotten a little carried away with it all cause Ive aggravated my left sciatica a few weeks ago & wow is that painful. Went to the doc today to get some stronger painkillers. Hopefully that will help & I can move forward with this all. Other than that Im healing well, had a little scare 2 weeks ago when I found a very tiny lump where my breast used to be (left side) Onc did an immediate biopsy and it came back B9 (whew)... she is concerned about the sciatica issues and has ordered a full body bone scan on October the 18th. Thats good as I haven't had one since before surgery April 13th this year. As it stands now I'm set for my reconstruction one year from that date. I'm REALLY looking forward to passing that last piece of this journey and moving forward. I do have to keep reminding myself to stop & enjoy each moment, not rush through everything & end up missing a year of life. Every day is precious & I'm thankful for every single one of them.

So anyway, How are all the Gals? Lets get some updates... I miss you all & feel guilty that Ive stayed quiet for so long.

Sending Love, light & big Hugs, Suz

Dear Norm, words cannot express your loss, but family close to me passed on, like my Dad, grandmother, a sister and the way I deal with it is to ask God for strenth to go on, we still have work here to do, that,s why we are here.  Look up and believe they are now (Our Angels) watching over us, and I find comfort in knowing that with living a good clean life we will see them again, never to be apart again, God Bless.  msphil

Norm. How is it possible that another year has passed?

It's amazing all that has happened.

I read Sharon's post to you while in NYC and had intended to post appropriately on the anniversary and my brain went to Swiss Cheese status.

It's affirming to see the angels on parade post. Your sign to us that life does indeed continue onward.

What is happening with your fostering these days?

We are 9 miles from home, following an over thousand mile road trip.

I know that you're proud of me.

    NORM!!!!

    Great to see you!!!!

Even if I missed ya by a couple 'o days!

I'd love to have a chatty report, whenever you find the time.

I was thinking about you the other day & so grateful that you have been able to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Suz. I know that you've really been put through the wringer..... I can't even quite remember what I read, nor which thread it was on??

Know that when I think of Norm, I think of you.

I send heart-felt prayers of support to our whole little angel family -- particularly when I fly. We just went back and forth across the country, so I had 2 occasions to focus my intentions at that point.

***My big news is that I have a "tour" through Europe coming up, Norm!!! I know that you're proud of me. This is the opportunity of a lifetime! Next month!!! Long flights -- so many prayers.

    Take care all.

Let us hear from you, when you are able some long night..............

Wow its been a long time since Ive been here! Im not sure if you stop by anymore Norm or if you've moved on. I pray that you are well and happy, would give you a huge hug if I could. If by chance you pass through I would really love an update on what you've up to these days and how was your summer??

Debbie, How are you doing? i think I saw a few posts scattered around that you have a book tour going on?? Please I would love an update...  Im sure your very busy but if you get a chance to write I'll check in more often.

Quite honestly I stopped logging on to bc.org as it was too much of a constant reminder of cancer.... i have so much of it in my daily life i just didn't want more. I'm sure that doesn't make sense but it how I felt.

I never did get reconstruction as the cancer was spreading as fast as we could keep up with it. Every time I booked the recon surgery there would be a new development & I would have to cancel it. As it stands now I have mets to the bones, a lot of tumors spread throughout my nodes everywhere. And the newest development is I had surgery to install a drain under my right lung about a month ago. A nurse comes into my home twice a week to drain it and change the dressings. The Dr's have just signed me onto the palliative care program... Not quite sure what it actually encompasses, but I see my Onc on tues and will let her give me the rundown on what it actually covers. I'm also on my second cycle of a pill form of chemo... did a drug trial earlier in the year and it didn't control the spread at all... so we are back to a little more standard tx to try to slow things down.

That said I had an incredible summer... dh bought us a couple of 4 wheelers so I got to play in the sand dunes and big mucky deep mud puddles on my good days. Did some boating as well as spending a lot of time enjoying my new deck.

Mid Sept we flew to Vegas so I could take my helicopter ride from there to the Grand Canyon where we flew threw and actually landed right in the Canyon for a champagne picnic. After that we flew back to Vegas as the sun was setting and did a low fly bye of the strip all lit up. We were there for a week but neither of us gambles. Had tons of fun people watching, went to the "Pawn Stars" shop, saw a show and just simply enjoyed ourselves. The Helicopter ride was every bit as incredible as id hoped it would be and I'm so very glad we went before I had the drain surgery!!

So now I'll spend the winter taking it easy. I get fatigued quite easily so long winter nights with a fire & good books will be for me. Hopefully Ill be well enough in spring to attempt a trip to Europe... The south of France sounds like something I would love to see. Will play that one by ear.

Ive written a book it seems so will sign off for now with plenty of hugs and a lot of love. Big Hugs Suz Kiss
