    Hi,

I was diagnosed with IDC back in Sep/06, you can see my stats below.  I had a lumpectomy followed by chemo, rads and a full year of Herceptin.

Until now everything has been fine, but about a month ago, all of a sudden I have started to have pain in my underarm (almost towards my back).  I went to the surgeon, he said he felt some swollen lymph nodes and he sent me for an US.  The technician was very rude, she said , "I don't understand why your doctor sent you, everyone has small lymph nodes"  She did a wam bam check, said she doesn't find anything.  I think I feel a small lump near that area, but I never know when a lump is just a normal lump.

If the US is not showing anything, but I'm still in pain (even putting on deoderant is painful), what should I do?

Normally cancern lumps don't hurt right!

    Thanks

    Shelley

    Hi Shelly

Im sorry you are going thru this, And sorry you had such a rude tech. Having had BC before I can see how you would be concerned you are your own best advocate, so if your not satisfied I would ask for another scan (with a different tech) Yes, cancer can be painful, not always but it does happen, Also wanted to mention have you tryed not wearing any deordant, sometimes that will cause lumps and soreness too, but i would still get it checked out again maybe you can ask for a catscan this time, good luck and if you have any more questions we are here for you

    Hi Debbie,

Thank you for replying, I appreiate it.

I have been using the same deoderant for years, I'm pretty sure it's not from that.

I have an Onc appt in 2 weeks, I will speak to her about it.  In any case, I will go back to the surgeon, I need to do something, I just can't be in pain and forget about it.

    Shelley
