Hi, I am new to this discussion board. I live in northern California and was diagnosed with stage 2b invasive ductal carcinoma (lymph node involvement) Her2Neu+, estrogen and progesteron negative brest cancer in Dec, 2009. Had two tumors totalling 4.5 cent. removed and three out of 5 lymph nodes positive, lumpectomy, January 8, 2010. I had a port put in at the end of February and began A/C chemo the next day, four rounds every three weeks. I just began the weekly Herceptin and Taxol treatmnet (had the second one yesterday) for 12 weeks. After that 30 days of radiation and will continue with Herceptine infusions every three weeks for one year. A/C treatments were much tougher than the Herceptin/Taxol has been so far, although I did have three days of intestinal difficulties before the second treatment and I am having some foot tingling as I speak. I am interested in connecting with others gong through treatment or who have recently been through treatment. Thanks in advance!
I'm looking at this optomistically and trying to keep the spirits up (being on AC made that difficult at certain moments)...and marking off each treatment as I go, seeing each one as an accomplisment. I am on medical leave at work and I am planning on returning during the radiation part of my treatment. How are other's doing?

Hi Diana and welcome! I also had two ER-PR-Her2+ tumors - had a unilateral mastectomy in March of 2008, then 6 rounds of Taxol/Carboplatin/Herceptin, then Herceptin for a year. And two years later, I'm doing well!
I'm glad you're done with AC and tolerating Taxol and Herceptin better. I didn't have any horrible side effects during TCH and continued working as a high school teacher (4 days off during chemo weeks and finished up during summer break.)
Sounds like you have a wonderful attitude, and you're right - each treatment IS an accomplishment.
Wishing you all the best in chemo and then radiation -
Sue

I just completed 9 of my 12 weekly Taxol/Herceptin treatments, so only 3 more to go! I went in prepared for the worst (a la Murphy's Law of Chemo SE Management) and am continually amazed at how normal I have felt so far (knock wood). I didn't even lose all my hair, and the ones that did come out are now starting to grow back only 3-4 weeks afterward! Best wishes that you will fare as well or better with your TH

Hi Diana, First congrats on finishing the Avc.( My AC was brutal as well.)
I am er pr neg, er pos too, but I had 12 nodes so I was a stage III. I did T X 4 with Herceptin the H alone and did 35 rounds or Rad. I found the T much easier , however I did develop neuropathy nail issues, which was annoying but not terrible. Radiation was easy compartatively for me.
Just to encourage you I am out 5 years; living large and my tx days are fainter and fainter in my memory.
God Bless>
