Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day.

Received flowers from my son's girlfriend in Kansas City, Flowers from my adoptive family here, my Dd's sitter, and presents from my adoptive family in Ohio. Awesome Day!! I'm just happy to be here to enjoy all of the love from afar and sisters of BC. (((((HUGS)))))

Get my blood work on Thursday. I have no appetite at this time so they are checking that too.

Walked Saturday 2.4 miles with DH and went to the Gym and did all the machines. Walked 2 miles today - BOY DID IT COOL DOWN in NC!!  90+ on Saturday, and highs in the 60's today!!! Much better for walking! :)

Diane--I hope your exchange goes well and that you heal as quickly as possible, with no complications.

Kittycat--I am relieved for you that your margins and nodes are clear! I hope you will get as many answers as you need to feel as comfortable as possible about your future care. By the way, I did CMF chemo first time around and had very thin hair that perked back up, then did Taxotere/Cytoxan last year, which resulted in baldness then slow return. (I didn't do Taxol because of past neuro problems with chemo and concerns that the neuro impact might be worse with Taxol than Taxotere.) My hair did return but now it is thinning some because of the Tamoxifen. Most of our choices are not easy ones!

Kari, Thanks for the update on Meg. She is amazing, although she probably wouldn't like to hear that. I remember getting my port last year, and I would have freaked if I had had to do chemo the same day. (Of course, don't most of us do better than we expect when we end up doing various forms of treatment...?) By the way I think you asked about my icing my back; I was actually referring the shoulderblade area, which seems a little improved but still a problem. I did not get the relief from the injection that I hoped to have and I will be back at the ortho's later this month.

kmmd, No I can not imagine ultra marathons. I'm still chugging along with my workouts most days, occasional days with at least 15 minutes. Friday night I worked out for 35 minutes, then yesterday I spent much of the day preparing and cleaning my front porch and garage for painting, then today with a little more cleaning and a lot of shrub pruning.

Valjean, Spring, Deanna, Maura, Harley & Joy--Glad to hear from you all as well. Take good care all!

It's like winter today here!  Rainy, windy, high of 60 degrees!  WTH??  Snow coming in later in the sierras.

I work with a gal who has hair thinning problems and she's never had chemo or BC!!  That sucks big time for those who have the thinning problem or hair loss.  Not fair.

Brenda, so did they give you a cortisone shot?  My DH hurt his shoulder in Cancun.  He's been miserable, he finally saw a dr. Friday and was given a cortisone shot, which only helped minor.  He will be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon shortly.  Dr. said he tore his tendons in his rotator cuff.  He actually cried last week from the pain he's in.  He said during his shot "if Kari could get through all her treatments, I can do this"...He's really scared of drs and shots.  (well heck, aren't we too?) haha  Keep us posted on your shoulder.

    Thinking of Diane today...

Spring, wow you did all the machines too?  Cool

Walked Saturday and did yoga, but nothing yesterday, very sore and tight!!  What's up with that!?

Back to work  - less exercise. We did walk 2 miles before dinner, quick! I count it as a success! I have found that doing all the weight machines at the gym helps me feel stronger when walking or doing Yoga for a few days after wards. Maybe my muscles get buffed up?? You all should try it and let me know if you notice this too? he he he.

I'm still recovering from my strenuous weekend of cleaning, paint-prepping, and pruning. My workout tonight will be deep breathing. I am proud of myself for taking a break; my body really let me know that I needed it.

Walked 3.6 miles today, 8800 steps=1 hour.  Whew! I had slacked off on the distance, but have gained a few #'s, so need to intensify workout & eat less. Such fun! Ha!

Kari ~ My DH tore his rotator cuff, a 1" tear, had to have surgery to repair. Very painful. I wish the best for your DH.

Brenda ~ You are one busy gal! You inspire me.

    Diane ~ A gentle hug.

Kari, last night was our turn to dance.  I mentioned last week that I'm starting to have glimpses of feeling like the person I was before. The neuropathy may not get better since its been so long, but I'm finally getting some strength back and less fatigue.  DH and I celebrated last night with a quiet night together.  He grilled, we sat and talked.  This soft song came on in the background and I just pulled him up and we slow danced together.  Totally something spontaneous, and something we never do.  We were just so happy and in tune last night.  I'm going to hug that feeling to me for a long time to come.

Happy Birthday, dear Kari!!!   It doesn't sound like your DH will be dancing with you to celebrate though.  That shoulder of his sounds so painful!  Oh, I hope he won't need surgery.

Diane, glad your exchange surgery is behind you, and hope you're resting comfortably today.  I think there's a tremendous emotional relief that goes along with getting those final reconstruction surgeries out of the way, and I hope you're also feeling that surge of energy and happiness.

kmmd, loved your dancing story, and sooo happy that you're starting to turn the corner re. feeling more like your old self!!  YaY!!!

I somehow managed to throw my lower back (hip area) out on Friday, probably picking up the dozens of lemons that had blown off our tree, although the seering pain didn't suddenly kick in until hours later when I went to pick up something else.  So I've been hobbling around for the past 3 days, popping aspirin until I'm nauseous from it.  And I don't have to tell you all the ominous thoughts that cross your mind when that kind of pain hits.  Sitting is the worst part -- like getting in and out of a car -- although we did get to the Palm Springs Art Museum for a nice event they had for Mother's Day.  Not sure when I'll be walking again, but this has been a wake-up call re. needing to get serious about doing more stretching and strength training.        Deanna

First off - kmmd - your story actually brought tears of joy to my eyes...awwwwwwwwwww what a lovely picture you painted.

Thanks Deanna and for those who posted Birthday wishes on my Facebook page!!  love you I made it to 48!!  YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I really am so happy today and for every day I get.

Spring, Yes, I get that buff feeling too when I remember to do the weights!! haha  GOOD FOR YOU!!

Brenda, good for you for listening to your body!!

Diane, get good rest and heal up, happy you are past the surgery.

Val, great mileage!  so your DH too huh on the shoulder, bummer.  sucky mucho

Deanna, so sorry to hear about your back.  Maybe some gentle stretching, a massage or trip to the chiropractor may be in order.  hugs

It was storming here like crazy yesterday, and only 49 degrees on my drive home!  WTH?  Tried getting on the treadmill, but my shins have just been killing me, so after 10 min I hopped off and did light weights briefly, then just rested.  I was tired.  In bed at 8:45 and to sleep I went!  This getting older business is for the birds, LOL!  just kidding

Have a fabulous day as our Lisa used to say.

Ouch, lots of pulled and torn backs, shoulders, hips, shins.  As a group we must be pushing it.  I alternate between thinking every ache and pain or asthma shortness of breath is something bad, and getting mad and saying, heh, I'm allowed to have non cancer things happen too.  Not everything is about my cancer.

Sounds like everyone either needs to recover from surgery, get a break from a busy day at work, or, needs some rest and recuperation from injury.  Hugs all around.

Brenda - sorry to hear about your adverse side effects.  That's one of the things that scares me most about chemo!!!

I am really sore on the right side today.  My BS took my drain out yesterday.  Next week is the PETscan.  This all really hasn't sunk in yet.  I can't believe I'm going through this again and it's worse!  I am staying positive and appreciate each day and I try not to let the little stuf bug me so much anymore!

I had posted on another thread too.  Finally got the tamox weight gain to slow.  I did so good during chemo, then it poured on with the tamox.  uggghh.  Finally hit a plateau and the scale is ssslllloooowwwly creeping down.  My Onc said she sees that, its like the body finally adjusts and things get under control, and that it does seem to take about a year.  So, I'll keep plugging away.

Good Morning!! I am hoping to walk around the block today.  I feel realy good, the exchange was so much easier that the first surgery.  I stopped taking the pain killers, too much being tipsy and more clueless than normal.

kittycat, continue to stay positive, I feel that is what gets us through all this stuff.

Got to get my DD up for school, my DS came home from college yesterday and brought 4 big garbage bags full of dirty clothes, got to love him!

Diane - funny about your son!  I'm glad the surgery went well.

I got out yesterday and visited with a friend from college who came to Vegas.  I didn't do much, but I'm a little sore still from the surgery and getting the drain removed on Monday.  My BS took out 10 nodes - all were clear - thank goodness!!! :)

    Where is everyone this week?

My son did 5 loads of laundry yesterday and still has 4 more to go.  I walked 2 miles yesterday and 4 today.  I get to go to lunch with my son and parents today, I love to lunch!

    Enjoy your Thursday everyone!

kmmd, the weight gain thing hit me too, still a few pounds over what I used to be!

Diane, you are cracking me up with your son's never-ending laundry!  My younger DD does that when she visits too!

kitty, sounds like you're doing well.

So I didn't tell you girlies this but on Tuesday after work I met my daughter Krystle and her pups and we sat outside and ate dinner then walked around at an outdoor shopping/restaurant lifestyle center. We were sitting on a bench and I was yakking away...she stares at me and says "I'm nervous, I have something to tell you" and then she starts to cry...of course I freaked out...I say "what's wrong" and she says "its not bad...I'm pregnant"!!!!!! relief ensues...Mike, my SIL didn't want her to tell anyone until she sees her doc on May 25th, but of course she couldn't keep it from me! I'm so excited for her. I went over to her house after work yesterday and she made me dinner and we took the pups on a long woodsy trail walk for an hour. I'm so happy!

By the way, the dryer broke, too much action I guess.

Kari - Happy belated B'day. Grandbaby is a good b'day present!

It has turned chilly in NC too. But this weekend in the upper 80's and rain. So that means muggy. Got the results of my blood work. Everything came out good. I need to drink more water and was put on Caltrate for my bones. And they took more blood to test my tyhroid. Still no appetite but trying to eat. After about 5 spoonfuls I'm full. Will keep you in the loop.

Going to VA for a long weekend on the 21st. My bestest friend turns 50 and it is a surprise visit. Payback! Working nights this weekend. Everyone have a great end of the week.

Yes - The cool is good for walking, RIGHT JOY?? Cool

Walked my 2 fast miles yesterday, plus 90 min Yoga, and 2 miles today! So pretty good even with kooky work.

Kari, you will be the youngest looking Gandma EVER!! Congratulations!!! This is wonderful! Are you real close? I hope so!

Joy, are you losing any weight with your lack of appetite?

Diane, the laundry sounds like a work out in and of itself! ha!!!!

Kari-Happy Belated Birthday! And congrats on your daughter's good news!

Kittycat--What relief you must feel about the nodes being clear! I hope your PET scan next week will give you more relief. Take good care of yourself as you heal.

Spring--Your workouts amaze me. Ah, the challenges of dealing with an interesting body. (I won't complain any more....)

kmmd, I'm glad to hear you are seeing/feeling glimpses of your "old self." So touching to hear of you and your husband dancing. My husband and I joke about our favorite pasttime: sitting outside on a Saturday or Sunday night, grilling, perhaps sharing a glass of wine or some other warm and fuzzy drink (usually only one for me...), listening to nature sounds and/or music, planning, or dreaming, or remembering, or whatever feels mellow and peaceful.

Diane--I'm glad to hear that your body is healing and you have felt well enough to walk.

Joy--Good news with the labs! I hope your thyroid is not acting up. And I hope your appetite picks up; you have so many great food choices there, you need to be able to enjoy them!

Ainm--Good to hear from you! Harley, I hope you are not working TOO hard! And I'm sure that I may have forgotten someone; please forgive me!

To all, yes, I am still moving along. I think I have worked out every night this week after work. One night was "just" stretching, but at least I managed it. Now I will ease on to bed....

Diane, the dryer broke.  Sorry, but you sure did tell that story well.  DS finally got an apartment wtih a washer and dryer, I think DH and I were happier than he was.

Kari, congratulations, my heart sank as you told the story and you said DD was crying, then was so happy to hear why.  That is wonderful

Joy, hope you feel better soon

Good to hear from everyone.  Think I'll try to get on the treadmill before work..

Diane!  Seeing your avatar, I can't believe you have a college-age son!  You don't look much older than that yourself!

Kari ~ What wonderful news!  I'm thrilled for your family!

I am still hobbling around with a painful lower back.  I've been reading, but haven't had much to offer in the way of motivation, as I literally haven't even been able to bend to get my running shoes on.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  Deanna
