    Good Morning!

    I wanted to first say how thankful i am for this site and message boards!  i truly appreciate everyones willness to respond and share their insights....so Thank you!

     my mom has just been switched to abraxane and i was wondering what we might expect from this drug?  (she was on taxol and zeloda)

    Hi Mary---I was on abraxane and avastin and Bonnie is right--my chest nodes stabilized but my skin mets returned and new nodes near the kidneys popped up while in treatment.  I am now switching to Xeloda and Ixempra starting Monday---we were hoping for PARP's (I'm triple negative) but they aren't available til July.

    I didn't have any problems with the abraxane and avastin and didn't even lose my hair although they told me I would.  There was no nausea and just a few aches.  I haven't had many side effects from my chemo so you might not be able to go by my experience though.  Feel free to ask any and all questions or PM me if needed.

    Thank you both for your response.  My mom actually had her first dose Monday.  she had severe diarrhea and vomitting.  She said she had not been feeling well to begin with so we are hoping that she tolerates it better next weekSmile.

    Mary--Vomiting should NEVER be tolerated--there are good drugs to counteract that so please call and make sure your mom has some anti-nausea meds (compazine, zofran, reglan, emend).
