Hi-I am new to this board and was a 19 year Stage 11 survivor in 1991 I had a 2.1 cm tumor taken from my left breast- thru the years I have had CA 27-29 tests with marks from 38-78.  My last test came in at 69 but my CEA was at 225.  My dr. had me go for a CT of the chest-stomach-pelvic area and bone scan-the bone scan came up clear but the CT showed 3 lesions on my liver of approx 2.1 cm each/I had a CT in August 8 months ago and that one was clear-for the past 5 years the markers have been high but they couldn't find anything now this.  I am going in tomorrow for a PET scan.  The dr. changed me from Armidex which I was on for the past 3 years to Aromasin-he said he would like to try the homonal therapy first-I told him we were leaving on a cruise to Alaska on Wed May 5th and he said go ahead and go.  I am concerned about the high CEA reading but I had a colonoscopy Jan 2008 and it was good.  Has anyone had CEA levels this high?  I am grateful for the 19 years I saw my kids get married and 1 grandson born my son is expecting his first baby in June and I want to be around to see her grow up.  The other two dr's I had did give me the CT scans I have had 4 in the past 5 years which were all clear and 2 other bone scans but when they retired and I got this new doctor who seems very good he ordered these tests again and we found this.  I would appreciate any information on high CEA's and please keep me in your prayers.

    Thanks so much

I thank you for your kind words and prayers.  Again, I am so grateful for the 19 years I have had since the beginning of this journey.  My grandmother passed away of BC when I was 2 and I remember my mother saying she was 44 at the time that she went to the dr. and they told her she was going thru the change when they found out what was wrong with her it was too late.  What a long way we have come since those days. I feel truly blessed.  Again, thank you for your prayers and the hope you have given me.

Marsha:  could you tell me what the size of your lesions were and what medications or what they did for your liver lesions?  I had my Pet Scan yesterday and am going back to the dr. on the 24th.  I was called today and told that I have a very low red blood count and should take iron tablets 3 times a day.  I also had my hormone receptor  medication changed from Aramidex to Aromasin.  So I wondered what you are on.  My lesions they said on the CT were 2.1 CM.  Didn't know if the Red Blood count would be because of the lesions.  Thanks so much for your answer.

    Hi Annie,

I am new to these forums so I'm just getting my feet wet by reading everybody else's posts. In Oct of 06 I had a dbl mastectomy. The tumore was only on the right side, margins were clear and nodes clear.  In 09 was having abd. pain, went to pcp and they did an ultrasound and found many lesions in my liver.  When I finally went to oc 5 weeks later He ordered a biopsy and enhanced scan.  He told me to get my affairs in order and sign a dnr, that what I had was fatal and that I had no liver left, it was all tumors.  He put me on Femara anyway and I had a ct in Dec. that showed remarkable shrinkage in the tumors in my liver.. There were a few small spots that didn't respond but my markers are down as well,  point being try to relax a little if you can.  There are so many things they can do and only our Father In Heaven knows when it is our time to go. so take heart and know that the women on these forums are there for you and have walked in your shoes.        Love and best wishes,  Darla
