Looking for support
Hi all,
I am about to have (on Saturday) my first post treatment MRI. It will be 18 months to the day since I last had an MRI which was part of my diagnosis. My lump was not picked up on a mammogram, but in an office visit. When I had that MRI, the only thing they saw in either breast was the one lump I had.
Now, I have had chemo, radiation, lupron and femara. As I approach this MRI I feel that it would almost be impossible for anything else to show up, but I know that it can happen.
I am just looking for some good vibes around this--- I believe everything is fine and I feel great- but there is always that seed of doubt......

momand2kids.... sending best wishes your way. You will be fine. It is normal to have the seed of doubt. I think we all get a little anxious for these appointments. It looks like you were caught early and you've been given the best of treatment. Hang in there. You will get through. I'll sending good thoughts and prayers your way on Saturday.
Take care,
Leslie

Definite good vibes coming your way. I completely understand how you must be feeling. One of the worst things about this whole experience, in my opinion, is that anxiety we probably are going to be feeling for the rest of our lives. Ugh!
I'll be thinking all clear thoughts for you on Saturday.

You feel great -- that is your key! Go with it!
I don't think there is any way around the anxiety. But figuring out to manage it and not let it manage us will keep it down to a lower level. I'm still in tx and still getting scanned for this and that. One of the last ones was a brain MRI. It was hard not to get anxious about that since I had a change in my vision which is why my onc ordered it. But it was clear.
My attitude has been changed in the last month. My new way of thinking is that I just won't accept the thought of anything new unless I'm proven completely wrong. I still have an outstanding issue from my last PET scan that had a recommendation for a CT scan to look at two suspicious areas in my lung and on my chest wall. That's on hold since I just had my surgery last week. The way I'm looking at it is that I'll probably have to have the scan to make my onc feel assured that it's OK. But I feel OK and, as I said, they have to prove it to me before I'll accept anything but NED.
Best of luck! Prove it to them that it's just another routine scan!

Your prognosis is very good and at 18 months, there is no reasonable expectation that you will
have anything but good news.
ILC is slow growing so you have years ahead of you!!
I know the fear; I think every cancer patient worries it will come back, especially around "checking things out" time, but I am sure you will be fine!
Best to you.

I just had my semi-annual oncology appointment yesterday and all is clear one year from diagnosis and I was stage 3, grade 1 - ILC tumor over 10cm and 7 of 22 nodes with extranodal extension, matting etc.
Hoping that you will have an all clear as well!

Take Care

Cathy, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Don't worry prematurely. If there's anything this awful disease has taught me, it's to take one day at a time and enjoy life to the fullest everyday. Happy Mother's Day. Marie
