Paulding..I see the same red rectangle.

4 years ago on Mothers Day (or Sunday before) I legally took my scarf off. Was very happy to see my hair again.

Hey Triple J's, I got my first haircut two weeks ago and it was fun. Never thought that a 15 minute cut could be such a boost to my happiness. It cut off most of the white now its just some white and very dark gray. I have had lots of compliments to leave it this color. It is thick and very curly, coming from someone who had thick curly hair before. I went to the doctor this week. Had tumor markers, pap, and mammo. No docs for 3 months. Anyone else getting the tumor markers and what are there numbers, just wondering about mine. They say they are normal, I had a 33 in December. Hugs Dianne

Allow me to show my BC ignorance--what are tumor markers?

I had my hair cut again last night.  Cut off most of the curls, but my hair is still wavy so I'm wondering what it's gonna do as it grows again.

I don't know what tumor markers are either...not sure if I've ever had them done...,

I'm trying to hold off another 2 weeks for a haircut but this chemo mullet is starting to not look so good LOL!

Hi Dianne...I only asked my oncologist once. It was in March of this year.

He said 27. Anything under 38 is normal, sometimes I heard it can go much higher still you are healthy.

As long as it stays steady 5 points down or up doesn't really make a difference.

Joni...Does your oncologist take blood every 3 or 4 months follow ups?

Not that many Oncologists relay on Tumor Marker Test, so they don't even do it.

    Hugs to All

Yeah-Gilly, looks great.  My hair was similar to that for a month or so, got longer & curlier.  Cut it yesterday!  and now it's just wavy-I feel more like myself than I have since July 20, 2009 when I got buzzed.( Egad-I've still got chemo-brain.  I repeated myself re: haircut-sorry)

No, my onc doesn't take blood.  My pcp does blood work for cholestrol, diabetes, etc. but no one has ever used the words tumor marker with me.

Hey all...love seeing the pic Gill.

I do have tumor marker testing every 3 months. Have since the beginning of all this. They started at 18, went up to 28 during chemo (which seems strange, however I read that happens during chemo). Now they are 16. I believe it is the CA 27-29 that I have done. I wish I wasn't so obsessive about scouring over my lab results, as this is now one more test I fret over. I think it isn't so good about telling you for sure of the presence of cancer, they do use it during treatment. A decrease in number can tell that the treatment is working. What I don't understand and have never really asked is, "Why is there a normal range for tumor markers?" Is it normal for everyone, or only those with breast cancer?

I also have the CEA test every 3 months, which can be a tumor marker test for breast and colon cancer. It has always been normal as well.

Like you all, I have never been so excited to get hair trimmed. Have had 2 trims so far. Not so excited about shaving the legs though.

See what's on her left ring finger! She swears it's a promise ring, but she's already bought the wedding dress. I smell fib,I'm working on my hair color. It's way to red for my liking. Oh yeah, and the necklace I made myself. My chest is still a little odd colored from the rads., but getting better.

    It's easy Eph3_12,

Download your picture to either a Snapfish account or Photobucket. Both work great. I use Snapfish cause I'm old school. Once downloaded you can pull up the pic. you want us to see. Right click on the pic. and choose Copy URL address, then come back here and click on that little tree next to the smiley face, paste the URL in the address box. I screwed up the one time because I tried to adjust the size. If you can't figure it out I betcha your DD can do it. LOL!!! Kids and there fancy computer skills. Can't wait to see those curly locks.

P.S. Both Snapfish and photobucket work great to store your pictures just in case your computer should ever crash, you have all your pics saved online.

Congrats on the anniversary for your mom!! Wishing many more for us all. Enjoy the Relay for Life. Went last year....too soon after diagnosis I think. Would feel much better about it this year.

Enjoying RAIN, RAIN, RAIN here in Arkansas.

Great to hear about your hair Jacee. I'm going to go get mine CUT the end of this month. May get a perm. Who does that anymore, right? My hair came back exactly as it was before just a different color and a little thicker, still baby fine.

Looks like rain showers tonight here too, but we are hoping it will hold off till later. We walk at 7 and the rain is suppose to hold off till 8. I feel  badly for those people staying all night, but I sure am proud of them.

Pauldingmom - YEAH!!!! One year for Mom and you too!!! Have fun at the Relay for Life tonight.  My DH is chairing the silent auction for our local Relay for LIfe in Sept and is really drumming up fun things to auction from the community.

Joni1 -  Heeellllllooooo!!!! So happy for you about the hair!  I went last yr to the Relay for Life just 2 weeks after my chemo and I think it was too soon. hopefully this year will be different.

My hair is CRAZY CURLY and sooo thick!

Hey Triple J's, The hair looks great. Mine looks just like all of you. But it is gray, gray gray. I think that I am going to leave it that color. Hope everyone is getting over having  passed the 1 year mark of diagnosis. I  thought the day would be tough as I attended a memorial service for a friend with stage 4 colon cancer with mets to the liver. She was a strong fighter and enjoyed life to the end and never gave up the fight. The day turned into one of great peace and thoughtfulness. I thought about my journey over the last year and how it has changed my life. I love life and will live life the fullest. Hope everyone else does the same thing. Hugs Dianne

Hi Dianne, Great to hear from you. We need a pic of that beautiful hair!  I'm still waiting for my 1 year mark next week but have enjoyed seeing all the other triple J's  marking their anniversary. This is the day of Mom's one year. It just happened to also be our Relay for Life night. (My daughter suggested my sexy leg pose)

No one told us it wasn't a race!
