Ridges

I was diagnosed with DCIS in 1/09.  Had lumpectomy and mammosite radiation.  The DCIS was on the side.  Mammogram 12/09 was ok.  Now on the underside there are ridges that as far as I know are relatively new.  I hadn't noticed it before.

Anybody had something like that suddenly come up.  I do have a followup visit with the radiation oncologist on Thursday.  That was scheduled 6 months ago when I saw her in Oct.

I think your radiation oncologist will know what this is--and that it's probably a kind of scarring under the skin from the radiation.  I've definitely not heard of cancer appearing as 'ridges' but had plenty of people tell me that was what their radiation scars felt like--sort of ropey burns on or under the skin?  I'd think that could take a while to surface, too, because it's scar tissue?  Good luck, and let us know, and I bet you'll feel a lot better after you meet with the doc!  xo

I saw the radiation oncologist today.  She believes it's just stretch marks.  She didn't seem concerned.

I asked her do you ever stop worrying.  She hesitated and then said um no.  She said you get to the point that you don't worry as much and it isn't consuming.  But no you never totally stop worrying.  She said she was 17 years out and still will worry occassionally.
