CCBaby: My prayers and hugs go out to your nephew, you and your family. It is so sad for children to have to go through. Kids are amazingly resilient and always seem to keep their spirits up. A lesson for all of us. I will be thinking of you all. Please keep us posted.
Dayla: Well you are on quite an adventure. Hope the dermatologist gets you some relief. Stay strong and enjot the journey.
BethR: I didn't know you have a port. Take the time for yourself and get it out.
Francine: It is cooler here in Edmonton the last few days but spring is due to return in a few days. Hope NYC warms up soon too.
Hello to everyone else
Love and Hugs
Beth P
Joke of the Day!
The Bridge
A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, 'because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.'
The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.'
God replied, 'Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help man kind.'
The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, 'God, I
wish that I , and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.
God replied: "You want two lanes or four on that bridge?" -
WLL I had my port out the week after chemo finished - in a day procedure in hospital with a light general anaesthetic. Within a day or two the soreness had gone and I have not missed it once since then!
Dayla hope the rash issues are resolved soon so that you can enjoy your hike.
Pickle I love that joke!!

Hi Ladies,
The sun is finally out.
Beth...great joke.
Stay strong.

Helloooo ladies
Weather is still a bit cool today but clear blue sky with loads of sunshine. Cleaning windows, closets etc today.
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Joke of the day:
An elderly couple, who were both widowed, had been going out with each other for a long time.
Urged on by their friends, they decided it was finally time to get married.
Before the wedding, they went out to dinner and had a long conversation regarding how their marriage might work.
They discussed finances, living arrangements and so on.
Finally, the old gentleman decided it was time to broach the subject of their physical relationship.
'How do you feel about sex?' he asked, rather tentatively.
'I would like it infrequently' she replied.
The old gentleman sat quietly for a moment, adjusted his glasses, leaned over towards her and whispered - 'Is that one word or two?'Hugs

Julie, what an amazing story! And I've heard of that happening so many times, with women just going through their lives, doing what they're supposed to do, and then realizing later that things are different than they thought. My mom has a close friend like that, and like you she ended up in a happy, loving relationship. I'm so glad for you!
Chris: Great pictures. Great pictures.
I missed birthdays! Happy Belated Birthdays! I'll read ahead to see if Murphy the cat is okay. I still have a lot of posts to go.
My sister's wedding was beautiful, pics are on my fb page.

Thanks, Francine. The wedding was Sunday, the rainy day. There were some breaks when we could get outside. Despite the weather, it was a perfect wedding. Everything was beautiful, and I think everyone had fun. We brought my daughter's boyfriend with us, and it turns out he can DANCE. So he provided some of the entertainment. Then my 7-year-old wanted to be like him, so he was trying to break dance, and luckily didn't break anything. Anyway, I think my sister and my brother-in-law are two very happy people.
Before we went up to North Jersey, my almost 13-year-old got his hair cut. He had long hair, which he wore all in his face. For months, all I saw was the kid's nose, mouth, and chin. It was extremely difficult getting it cut, and obviously emotional. We were there much longer than expected. I love his new haircut, though, and I really love seeing his face. I couldn't stop staring at him on Saturday night!

Thank you everyone for your prayers for my nephew. His surgery went very well yesterday and the doc removed all of the tumor off of his brain. He has a horseshoe incision on the top of his head and they also put his port in for when he starts his chemo. He is in pain today and should get out of ICU today or tomorrow.
-
Hi all...
ccbaby - good news about your nephew. He's still in my prayers..
BethP - About the port.. yes, I know. It's just that my reconstruction is June 2nd and I've got ALOT of work to finish before I'm out for that recovery (4 to 6 weeks)... damn job!!!! lol Actually, when I meet with my PS for the reconstruction, I'm going to see about getting it removed then. Great jokes!!!
have a great night all!
Beth
-
Hi ladies..
BethR.... what type of reconstruction are you to have?
Christy..Your nephew is in all of our prayers.
BethP..love the daily jokes..Keep them coming ..
Michelle..saw the wedding photos ..they look really great. Everyone looks so happy. Thks for asking..Murphy the cat is fine and back to herself.
Ladies . The New York Times had a big arrticle called Second Life..Moving Beyond Cancer. This is a quote by a women who has had stage 4 cancer for 17 years. I thought the quote was something we could all relate too.
One thing I don't ever think to say: When I was told I had a year or two, I didn't want anything one might expect: no blow-out trip to the Galápagos, no perfect meal at Alain Ducasse, no defiant red Maserati. All I wanted was ordinary life back, for ordinary life, it became utterly clear, is more valuable than anything else.
Cool night here in NYC ..Will be warm by the weekend.
Hugs,
Francine

Francine - I agree completely with that quote!!
Nadine I am still thinking of you

CC - Prayers for your nephews recuperation.
Michelle - the pictures are great. Glad you had a great time.
Francine - great quote!
-
Christy...blessings on you and your nephew. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
Just checking back in with the good news that my MRI was normal. My cognitive issues are indeed likely caused by the sudden and huge drop in estrogen brought on by the oophorectomy plus aromatase inhibitors. And it will balance out eventually
Thank you all for your thoughts...I had to wait awhile to get my results before I could report back
Nadine
-
Nadine...Great news. We were all thinking about you..
Well my DH and I are on the road again. This Friday we leave for a quick five day tour of Guatemala. Should be interesting. Pictures to follow upon our return.
Glad all enjoyed the quote. I thought it was quite meaningful.
Hugs,
Francine

CCBaby: Good news about your nephew. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.
Nadine: That's great news. You must be so relieved. What kind of cognitive issues are you having? My memory (short-term) is horrendous.
Michelle: Loved the pics. You really sparkle with that beautiful smile of yours. BTW your sister said "Yes" to a beautiful dress.
Francine: Great quote. Thanks for posting it. Have a fabulous trip and I look forward to seeing the pics.
BethR: That's a great idea to see if you can have the port removed at the same time!
Julie: I just read back a few pages to hear your story. That is marvellous. Good luck with your upcoming nuptuals.
Hugs

Beth P: short-term memory is the worst aspect of my cognitive issues. Right in the middle of a conversation, I will lose my thoughts completely. I can't recall entire conversations from just days before at times. And concentration is sometimes a challenge as well.
But from what I am told, all of these issues are very common among menopausal and postmenopausal women, due to the lowered estrogen. And it does balance out eventually...soon I hope!
Cheers,
Nadine
-

-
Chris..no cruise this time. We are going to be staying at two different hotels in Guatemala. Should be something different. It is a bus tour so we are not alone. We leave tomorrow and come home Tuesday evening. Four nights and five days total.
Taking my netbook so maybe you will hear from me.
Stay well all.
Hugs,
Francine

I had my port removed on April 6th after a year of herceptin. It took only about 15 minutes with just a local anesthetic in BS office. It was not a big deal. They told me to take tylenol if it bothered me .He wanted to know if I wanted my port after they took it out. No way!! It was good for the time I needed it, but was glad for it to be gone. My husband was in office the whole time and watched. It took 4 stitches (disolveable) to close the incision. By the way he just opened the original incision so just one scar. I did not feel anything but a little pulling- no pain. I was surprised at how long the tubes attached to the port were. At least 10 to 12 inches in each direction. Hopes this helps. It really was not a big deal. Annette
