Skin cracking on BMX incision, what lotions?
I am experiencing skin cracking and peeling around my incision site.
I have no idea what to use to help this. The incisions are healing well but the peeling and cracking hurts. Vitamin E, Aloe, regular Jergens lotion?
What has worked for you out there.
Thanks!

I have started using Vit E. Just snipping off the end of the capsule and putting it on my incision. I was surprised at how well it works. Good luck!

I used vitamin E after both my mastectomies and my exchange surgery. As soon as the skin glue began to peel off, I rubbed vitamin E into the scars constantly. I think that I healed well and that my scars look pretty good. I just got vitamin E capsules, poked a hole into the end with a pin and oozed out the vitamin E gel. I hope you heal up soon!

Vitamin E AND calendula cream, gel, lotion or ointment, depending on your preference. Calendula really helps with healing. I find the gel absorbs well.
Avoid anything with alcohol since it is drying, and anything with parabens (methyl, ethyl, propyl, etc.) because they are hormone disruptors, something we can do without.
I try not to use products with petroleum jelly because it's made from PETROL! Prefer coconut or some natural oil.
Ditto too much coloring (does your skin care what color?)
I've not had my next batch of surgeries but I've had a number in the past and this has worked for me, plus it seems my scars fade more quickly.
Hope this is helpful.

(I actually was first DXed in 2007. I have a recurrence and am trying to get settled with a new BS.)

I second the Calendula creme. I am using it for rads and it is doing a great job on my skin. I am planning to use Vit E when I am done. I just bought a bunch of capsules like someone else suggested.

DITTO! love vit E.
Trader Joes has a bottle of vit. E. Although it's not 'pure' vit. E I love it. I've used it on my face and it just sucks it up. It's also great for feet! I've never found anything that works as great a vitamin E...and I live in the tundra...Minneapolis!! Hope you feel better and that you find the right moisturizer.
