    Toyah - great news!!!!

Melinda - how do you know what your new pubes look like? I can't see down there. Just had a laugh to myself imagining you with a mirror checking them out :)

I went back to bed this morning and slept for a couple more hours - feels great. I haven't done that for ages. The one thing I like about being off work - I can shop and wash during the week and then Saturdays and Sundays I have nothing to do but rest.

Hi Everyone. Finally checking in after a long absence. A lot has happened on this board - surgeries, final rads, final treatments, and some great news from Toyah!

Things are pretty much the same for me. I have 3 more weekly taxol treatments to go. Side effects are still pretty manageable, though the numbness in my feet and fingers seems to be getting just a bit worse every week. Melinda - you made me laugh out loud when you were talking about wanting your old nose back. I've got the same thing happening to me. I get at least one bloody nose a day... and then - what did you call it? Snot soup? YUK!!

I've had some pain in my knee for the past couple of weeks - I know its just from my running, but, in the back of my mind, I can't help but think the worst. At what point do we just accept the small pains in our bodies as just that? Or - is it better to acknowledge the fear and get it checked out... just in case?

My hair. I had a good quarter inch of goose down all over - but I chose to shave it off one last time. Its been about a week now, and it seems to be growing in a lot more like real hair. And it is coloured - not just white. As for other areas of my body - nothing. Legs, pubes, underarms, eyebrows - nothing. I don't care about any of it - except for my eyebrows. I just cannot stand not having eyebrows! Maybe if I wasn't so bad at drawing them in.

I still haven't seen my PS since I found out I'll be having rads. I wonder what my timeline for reconstruction will be now? I have a feeling I won't be getting my new boobies until sometime late this year. I've had these %*#@'ing expanders in for almost 8 months now! That is about 5 months too long!! I still hate them and can not wait for the exchange surgery.

Enough griping from me... hope everyone is doing well! Big hugs to all of you!

Hello. I was just wondering if someone can help me . My mother is going through chemo for bilateal breas cancer, stage 2, hormone positive with one lymph node affected. Doctors advised FEC75 . Cycles have commenced. Someone told me she should be getting taxane. Is this correct? As I am a first time user, apologies in case I am in the wrong discussion forum

    Mabelle ~~

Nice to hear from you !!  I am sure you will be glad to get those expanders out.  I am still trying to get used to the implants, they aren't all that comfy yet either.  Hang in there !  I hope your last 3 treatments go smoothly.  :)

Ashok ~  I don't know protocol.  I had AC x 4 and Taxol X4.  Good luck to your mom.

Ashok, there are so many different types of breast cancer, therefore there are so many different chemo cocktails. I also had AC X 4 and Taxol X 4. I'm sure your mother's doctor prescribed the best treatment for your mother. Have you posted on the Stage II board? You may find some helpful info there. Good luck!!

Ashok, Linda is right about the different the cocktails.  We are all different, and get different drugs.  I had FEC-T.  You have to trust the doctors, they do this every day and they know what is best.  One thing to remember as well is that the treatment for a  person in their 40s will be different than the person who is in their 70s or 80s. Another thing to consider is previous health issues of the person.  We don't all go into this healthy as a horse.  Best of luck to your mom.  feel free to ask lots of questions of us, we are like old pros at this...we are here for you, and her.  This site saved me, and made this trip bearable.

    Good Morning,

I havent posted in a few weeks..Friday was my 9th T/H...I had a two week break as we went on a much needed vacation to San Diego CA..My sister in law passed away before we left, so we had the calling hrs/funeral two days before we left...she was 53, died of kidney cancer ....we were mentally exhausted for the first few days but then started to enjoy our vacation.  I caught a cold the day after we got home, so when I went for Tx Friday, all was great with my counts, so I had my chemo, but then she did chest xray to be sure of no fluid around heart/pnemonia setting in and she put me on an antiboitic for 5 days..My throat has been sore but no fever at all....first time I have had a cold or felt under the weather since Oct..

Its wonderful to hear so many of us Nov Chemo Girls are done with Treatment ! Woo Hoo ...I am waiting to hear if I will need to do radiation (which onco at beginning said yes)....then it will be awhile before Im done ..Im torn about it as I had one node positive but it seems to be the protocol if you are node positive even with one...does the radiologist oncologist make the final decision regarding moving forward with radiation TX ?

Onco also said she will discuss hormone therapy after Im done with T/H  .....Im er-/Pr-  so I didnt think I would be able to , she said because it will reduce chance of recurrance in other Breast ...any one with my stats that went on hormone therapy after Chemo ??????

Toyha~ I am soooooo happy to hear everything is OK!!!! Yes, do get on with your life and enjoy.  Your hair is so thick and beautiful! Thanks for sharing the picture with us.

I found out Friday from my onc that I will be on Tamoxifen for 2 years, then he is switching me to Armomabase Inhibitor for the 3 following years. He wanted to mix it up a little so that my bones stand as little chance as possible to become brittle being i am post menapausal.

Nette, I just thought my last day of radiation on Friday was great, yours was truly a HOOT!!!! sounded like a good time (so to speak) I know I will miss all the techs and nurses. I said by to everyone at both the chemo oncs and the rads onc Friday afternoon. I had grew quite close to some of the people. I got teary eyed saying good bye to some. BUT, I am too glad to be able to get on with life itself. I had a wonderful weekend of celebration with my awesome DH and caretaker. He was so good to me through all of my journey.

Cafelovr, I know all will go well with your liver. We will all be watching and saying our blessings.

Cat60, Sorry for the loss of your sister-in-law, but I'm glad you eneded up having a good vaca. I think I corrected your Tx's above in the proper order. You have been throu a lot, and I know you will be glad to get the last three over with. YOU are almost there, hang on sweetie!!!

I'm doing good. Just sore and want a good night's sleep! My left arm is SOOOO tender! It burns and is numb and tingly. Dr said that was a good thing; that the nerves are regenerating. Who knew it would hurt to get goosebumps!

Got the results of the BRCA analysis. NEGATIVE-NO MUTATIONS DETECTED. I take this as good news, but wonder why my cancer is as bad as it is. Everyone swore I was positive. Who knows. All I know is that the cancer is gone from the breast and soon will be gone from the liver! Bring it on!!! I'll know more tomorrow. I have Herceptin and Zometa then.

Fellow warriors - Had my surgery on Friday and everything went fine.  Two sentinal nodes were removed and first look they are negative for cancer cells.  Wahoo!  The final results of the breast and nodes will be on Monday.  Pain isn't as bad as I expected but having meds is helping a lot.  I participated in a research study where they took bone marrow and blood while I was out - hope it helps future warrirors. They are trying to see if anything in the marrow/blood will help determine which drugs will do better than others.  I don'tknow whether they will put me back on Taxol or not.  The numbness/burning is still there -

THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD THOUGHTS/PRAYERS!

GrandmaMickey: Great news - hope you are ok. Must be good to get the surgery out of the way.

Cafelovr: Good news on the gene test.

I have my second sole herceptin treatment today straight after the radiation. I'm still having lots of aches and pain from the taxotere and intend to have a serious discussion with the onc about it.

Can't believe I'm 6 weeks PFC. Just wish my hair would grow faster - I'm becoming obsessive about it. It is growing, but just not fast enough. I can see lots of new shorter darker hairs coming in.

    Hope you're all doing OK.

#10 down, 2 more to go!

Cat: Sorry about your family's loss (((cat)))

Sue: How is radiation going? Sending hairy fairy dust...

Grandma Mickey: Glad surgery went OK, hope those nodes behave and stay negative for the final path report

Linda: Congrats on being negative, at least your family doesn't have the worry of the mutation.

Alicia and Michelle : Big hugs!!

Good news Linda on the BRCA !  The soreness and tenderness takes awhile to get better...  I'm not gonna lie.  But, it will get better with each day ~ rest and try not to use those arms too much.

GrandmaMickey ~  good news on the nodes. I will pray they stay NEGATIVE !  Rest up and feel good.

Melinda ~ woo HOO 2 more to go.  Hope you are feeling ok.  :)

    Hugs girls !!!

Melinda: Good news on only 2 to go.

The radiation is going ok so far. I've had 11 I think, I've started to lose count. The boob is looking a bit darker than the other one but no burning so far. The people there are lovely so that makes it easier. Going everday is a bit of a pain, but I've got them scheduling me early in the morning so I get in the habit of getting up - all ready for going back to work.

Thanks for the hair fairy dust. I do expect it to come back well as I did have lots of hair before and didn't lose all of it. Being bored makes me get fixated on certain things.

    (((HUGS))) to you all

You know for a group of girls that have been thru HELL and back we sure all do have spunk, spirit and the gift of laughter and as well the will to fight like the "Warriors" we all are.

It is so amazing to see how strong each and everyone of you are. I feel as if I've had it fairly easy compared to some of you. Yet no matter what you stay positive and all of us stay united.

Continued Blessings to each of you, Love to all my Sister Warriors (((((HUGS)))))

I bought some Fanci-ful hair mousse today, temorary wash out color. I wanted something wild, like Annie Lennox red, but they didn't have it. The lady suggested the mousse instead of the shampoo, she says the shampoo comes off on your pillow case.

It didn't do anything major, but it has a better color than the mouse fur I was sporting. And it didn't color my scalp. I am surprised it worked on this fur like stuff.

Melinda ~ thanks for the tip on the coloring of the mouse fur.........  Mine is getting a bit more golden at the root, I think?!  Could be me wishing and imagining it.

Sue ~ you will get to that finish line after RADS !  Make sure you take good care of your skin.

Brenda ~ thanks for popping in and "cheering" for us !

    Hugs to all !

And speaking of rad...I thought I was "done" but apparently not.  I had the 5 weeks of rad and the 6th week of boost.  Rad onc said the rad area would start "calming down" as soon as I stopped the regular rad, but the boost area, the focused rad, would continue to get red the week after, which would be this week.  A tech, however, said that the large area would "peak" in up to 2 weeks afterward rad stopped.  I figured the rad onc knew more than the tech, so I believed the dr.  (I do remember BrendaShar mentioning that she, too, was told it the area could continue to get worse over the following 2 weeks.)  Well, this week, my nipple has been swollen and so sore, I can only wear a huge T-shirt and nothing else.  It's bright red, throbbing, and oozing a little bit.  I ended up calling the office yesterday because I wasn't sure this was normal.    Nurse said to continue doing what I had been with the cream and give it time. I hadn't had any problems during the rad treatments, and therefore, not prepared for it to be this uncomfortable.     Also, the techs always covered my nipple with a sticky piece of foam because they said the rad tended to collect more in raised areas.  I had continued to wear the patch this week to keep clothes from rubbing there, but the nurse said not to wear it so the nip could get air.  All in all, it's better today but is still extremely tender.  I'm glad I don't have my first sub position at school until next week, when I hope to be able to wear work clothes.

Congrats!!!... to GrandmaMickey on the successful surgery and neg. nodes; to Toyah on the Relay for Life participation (my daughter did it at college and had a blast); Cafelvr on the neg. BRCA results; Melinda, mabelle, and Suepen on countin' 'em down; and to all of us that are growing hair!!  Mine is coming in, tho not fast enough and I believe the dark ones are over-taking the "white" ones.  (My son says they're gray, but I like to think they're white.)

Fist-bumps (it's less painful than hugs) to everyone for getting this far and hanging in there!!!!  Nette

Melinda, Are you sure the colour you got was mousse not mouse Wink

Nette, My nipple is sore too. They don't cover it. It was sore after the surgery though. I told the rad onc about it yesterday and she didn't seem too concerned. Skin is looking ok so far after 12.

Had my 7th herceptin yesterday and got stuck there for ages waiting for the onc. It was a really busy day for them.
