Can chemo cause Skewed CAT Scan Results?

Options

I recently had a Chest CAT Scan done ordered by my Rad Onc just prior to starting radiation. I was dx with IDC Stage 3, Grade 3, 8/8+nodes, vascular invasion in September/09. Had MX and starting chemo December 1/09 AC (DD) x4 and Taxol (DD) x4. Started herceptin with my 2nd Taxol treatment and have had 4 to date as well as 1 zometa infusion (preventative). I had my last Taxol on March 9, followed by my first Zometa March 13th. My recent Chest CT Scan was done on April 9th (4 weeks from my last Taxol). The Chest CT Scan revealed 2 spots on my spine at the T5 and T11 areas. The Nurse told me that the results were vague and that further investigation is needed. I will be having a bone scan next Monday, April 26th. I can't help to think that the chemo regime was NOT successful and I progressed (bone mets) while undergoing treatment or maybe just maybe the CT Scan results may have been skewed due to completing chemo just 4 weeks prior.

I realize that I will likely have a clearer picture of what I am dealing with once a have my bone scan. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, what was the final outcome?

Frankie - when I first started on this journey, the CT scan saw I had lung mets and an ovarian mass.  Stage IV is not great, but this was really not good for me.  I immediately went for a pelvic ultrasound.....well, that 2+cm tumor just so happened to be my OVARY!!  I had a biopsy on my lung mets, so I know those are real, but that ovary tumor was a shadow or some crazy thing that wasn't really there....it happens :>   I am hoping you get good news with your bone scan next week and it's nothing!  Keep us updated and hang in there.

Thanks for responding. I had my bone scan -April 26 (follow-up) from my chest CT Scan on April 9th. The Rad nurse called me yesterday to inform me that the bone scan was clean. The T5 & T11 (questionable uptake) that was found to be vague? on the Ct Scan was not  found on my bone scan. The nurse said that both my RAD Onc and medical Onc reviewed the findings and figure it might have been inflamation. So I guess things can show up and turn out to be nothing. It's so emotionally difficult to chase (scan to scan ) at the end to reveal nothing. I am grateful at this time it turned out this way but tt really makes me question which scan is valid. Urghhhh!
