no sweat
I mean that literally - since I've gone through chemo I do not sweat. Did that happen to anyone else?

Hi Leah....I always read your posts.
This one I can answer maybe. After the chemo and radiation I didn't need deodorant until recently and still no hair in my right armpit because of the SNB.
This last month or so I'm using a deodorant and I even grew 2 strings of hair in that area.
You have a nice day.

Hi Leah, Yes, I had something similar, sort of. No sweat in armpit area, just general body sweats from instant menopausal hot flashes. Wheeeee~! And yes, no need for deodorant at all. I thought it might be related to estrogen...more estrogen = more sweat in armpit area. Four years out, still no sweat. I don't hear people talking about it much...it's strange! But nice!

I was wondering about the low estrogen and the lack of sweating in the armpits as well. I used to be one who had to apply and reapply antiperspirant several times a day (I always felt like I was wet and stinky) but now I apply it in the morning and that's it. Sometimes it's even a bit "chalky" still when I get undressed at night, like it has just gotten applied and dried. I think it's the lack of estrogen, though, not the chemo, but I could be wrong. I thought I was the only one with this weird side effect. . .

I'm not sweating anywhere in my body, not just underarms. Even when I got hot flashes from the tamox I didn't sweat, though I soaked the sheets when I went through menopause. Wet or dry, hot flashes are no picnic.
For me it's not the lack of estogen since menopause was almost 8 years pre-chemo.
But it's good to know there are others with this strange se.

Your post sure is weird timing. I had started a similar one quite a while ago when I found the same thing. However....my one 'good' armpit was rather smelly after work the last couple of days. My husband concurs that it wasn't just my nose playing tricks on me. Yet the radiated pit is still fresh as a daisy. It has been 21/2 years since the end of chemo/rads so I wonder if it is coming back now.
I hope the lack of smell/sweat isn't from the lack of estrogen. I am still on Arimidex so if I am stinky again that would mean that it isn't working as well.

Hm...I also wonder if the whole chemo thing is disrupting our endocrine systems...I seem to recall the endocrine system has something to do with the armpit thang....All my natural systems seemed disrupted...

I didn't have Chemotherapy like many of you but I did have 21 radiation treatments after my lumpectomy in May of 2017 and two more surgeries (until margins were clear for radiation) in June and August of the same year. I am now walking 3-5 miles daily and taking 2 yoga classes each week. I've noticed that although I feel like I'm hot from my classes and walking, I am not sweating anywhere on my body. I didn't notice this earlier since I had finally retired from teaching and relocating to another state last June. Now that I have finally settled down in our new home and have time on my hands, I am going to yoga classes and walking. I chose not to take Arimedix after radiation, so I am not on any kind of aromatase inhibitor, but I do take vitaminC and other supplements on a daily basis. I am confused as to why my sweat glands are not working. Should I be concerned about this? And, does anyone know if there is something I could take to encourage the sweat glands to function? And, should I be concerned that my sweat glands have shut down? I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations.

I'm so glad to find out it's not just me having this odd problem. I had completed TCHP end of 2017 and found out I don't sweat after walking outside on a hot day (90 F) May 2018. I raised this to my oncologist and they referred me to endocrinologist but found nothing.
I even tried Sauna room and still, no sweat.
I wonder if some of you posted a while ago got any better.
Thanks,
Grace

I finished chemo about 11 months ago and radiation just a bit over 8 months ago. I don't need to use as much deodorant, esp on side that got radiated but when I workout I sweat. Dripping sweat all over.

I just said the same thing to my husband just today. I noticed shortly after surgery that I no longer had underarm odor. Now 6 out of 8 chemos done, I really don't sweat. What I find interesting is that my right underarm would always sweat more and had odor while the left did not. It was my right breast and lymph nodes that cancer was found in and I am 99% er+, pr+. When I go for a run my head certainly does still sweat though.

I had bmx 7 years ago, and 32 rads. 4 a/c, 1 taxotere. RO nurse told me then I wouldn’t sweat under cancer side.
I don’t sweat on either side, but sure do everywhere else.
