Any One ELSE??????

I finished radiation a couple of months ago. I have had a double mastectomy with no reconstruction at this time. My cancer was in the left breast. After the double mastectomy I have been SO NUMB on my chest. Well after radiation the area under my left arm is Swollen Hard and just PUFFY....Kind of looks like a swollen bubble. I did ask Radiation Oncologist about it and he says feels like scar tissue and that radiation CAN change the skin.

When I stand in front of the mirror, my right side is completely flat. The left side is larger. I was just wondering if anyone else has this experience. It is also tender to touch. I guess the feeling is coming BACK.

When I roll over in the night on my left side....I do feel a sense of being uncomfortable. Thanks in advance for any help with this.....

May GOD BLESS US ALL

Yeah, lymphedema is a possibility. When it's in the breast, chest, side, axilla or back it's called "truncal lymphedema." Here's a page about it:
    http://www.stepup-speakout.org/breast_chest_trunckal_lymphedema.htm

Unfortunately fairly common (though our doctors are pretty slow to recognize it), and growing more common lately, probably due to the radiation following lumpectomy. A well-trained lymphedema therapist can offer good help through therapy (nice, very gentle specialized massage called Manual Lymph DrainageSmile) and compression.

    Hugs! Be well,
    Binney
