Headwraps

Options

You all are going to think I'm nuts, but I have been struggling with trying to find decent looking headwraps as I will be starting chemo soon. . .The Beau Beau's are the nicest wraps I have come across, but I can't see spending $50 - $60 for one headwrap. Today while going through my closet, I came across several of my beachwear sarongs. Guess what??? They work great as headwraps! LOL The shorter length seem to be the perfect size. Even the longer ones could be cut shorter and used. Part of the extra material could even be used to make a scrunchie thingy with too, to pull the tails through keeping them in place for a tighter fit or to make the rosette style. Yea!!!

If you sew a little there are some cute patterns out there. They kinda look like the little hats the Amish women wear but you can jazz them up by tying the tails in different ways. Be sure to get your free one from franceluxe.com. These are the absolute best but kinda expensive. They are silk and you get to choose which color you would like.

You will probably need a little knit beanie type hat for sleeping in too. I found that if I ran a ribbon around the edge and tied it in the front it would stay on all night.
There is also a way to take a tee shirt and cut it off and make a nice wrap. Search it on YouTube for detail instructions.

With summer here I would go to Wal-mart and pick up some cotton baseball caps for ladies. My daughters and I beadazzled them with inexpensive do dads from the fabric store. We even added bangs and sideburns to one. LOL it didn't turn out to well, but was fun to giggle at while we made it.

I sold my sewing machine and serger a couple of months ago, shortly before I was diagnosed, and now I could kick myself for doing so. I have been looking on craigslist for a basic machine and there seem to be many available.

I have a pretty good collection of baseball caps and I think I even have one of those little machines that I could use to put rhinestones etc. on the hats.

I am anxious to start my chemo so that I get it over with. Moffit just called to inform me I am getting my port placed on Tuesday. A bit frightened but again also anxious. I am trying to keep a positive attitude. :-)

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

I found a free pattern online for a sewn headwrap. I posted the details in another forum a few weeks ago; you can find the link here:
