Breast calcifications

I'm a 51 year old woman. I had breasts reductions 2 1/2 years ago. I have not had a mammogram since then.  Last friday I had one and it showed calcifications.  The radiologist showed the film to me.  He said that it could be the result of the breast reductions, but since I don't have a post reduction mammography to compare this one with, he wants to do a needle biopsy.  I did a lot of research in the internet and I think my calcifications look like what it's called "diffused microcalcifications".  I am scared and nervous.  The biopsy is scheduled for next week.  I wish it could be done tomorrow and get it over with.  The anxiety is killing me.  Anyone here with breast calcifications and breast reductions.  Thank you in advance.  Maria

I didn't have breast reduction but I had microcalcification in my right breast 6 yrs ago.  The needle biopsy result was benign-atypical ductal hyperplasia(ADH) but my doctor said needle biopsy sample was too small and wanted to do surgical biopsy.  So I had surgery to remove most of the calcifications and its result confirmed ADH.  ADH itself is benign and it could progress to cancer, stay the same or degress to disappear.  I understand how difficult it is to have the test and wait for the result but don't worry too much.  They say less than 10% of microcalcification is cancer.  So, your chance is pretty good here.  Good luck with the biopsy.  Oh btw, in case you are working I recommend you to stay home the next day after the biopsy.

I had bilateral breast reduction immediately after the lumpectomy to my left breast Dec 13, 2006.  Underwent chemo and brachytherapy radiation during the spring/summer of 2007.  I already started feeling lumps again on my left breast by November of 2008 and my mammogram that month didn't show up with anything but suspected calcification.  My surgeon who had done the lumpectomy followed up with ultrasounds each three months after that.  She saw very little growth in three small spots and still only suspected tissue necrosis.  Lo and behold, during my November 2009 mammogram, they insisted I have a biopsy on all suspect areas in my left breast.  The three very small tumors that had been monitored turned out positive again.  I just underwent a mastectomy to my left breast with tram flap reconstruction in February.  I start TC chemo tomorrow.
